Jordan's Coleman-Cox, Hampton to play in NCAA opener at UNC
Hampton University freshman and 2013 Jordan High School alumna Bayley Coleman-Cox will return to the area when Hampton’s Lady Pirates meet Michigan State at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 23 at Carmichael Auditorium on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill for a first-round game of the NCAA Women’s basketball tournament.
Coleman-Cox, who averaged 1.1 points and 0.3 rebounds in 18 games for Hampton this season, graduated from Jordan High School in 2013 as its all-time leading scorer.
At Jordan, Coleman-Cox was a four-year varsity starter As a junior and senior, Bayley led the PAC-6 Conference is scoring, assists and 3-point field goals. She had a career high of 47 points and a PAC-6 conference record eight 3-pointers in a game.
Hampton is the 5-time NCAA Division I MEAC Conference champion. Hampton was undefeated in conference play with 19-0 record and overall 28-4 record with wins over Virginia Tech, Kansas State and Southern Mississippi.
If Hampton upsets Michigan State Sunday it could meet UNC on Tuesday night in a second round game at Carmichael.
