SWIMMING
ECH boys, girls chase N.C. 4-A titles today

CARY — The East Chapel Hill boys and girls swimming teams will be among the favorites today as the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-A Championships get underway at Triangle Aquatic Center on Thursday, Feb. 7.
Preliminary heats get started at 8:30 a.m. with the finals scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

\WRESTLING
Jordan 52, Riverside 17
DURHAM — PAC-6 4-A champion Jordan made short work of conference rival Riverside Wednesday.
The Falcons picked up wins in the opening three weight classes by forfeit and added another at 220 pounds.
Meanwhile, Jordan’s Robert Tomasic, Matthew Pidgeon, Tyrece Jones and Keifer Knight picked up pins. Patrick Tomasic also won, his coming on a major decision.
Riverside competed well in the classes in which the Pirates fielded competitors. Abdurrauf Muhammed got the Pirates’ first win at 145 pounds, opening a run of four-straight Riverside victories. The others came from Jaquan Sowell, Nick Hurley and Christian McKinnis. Heavyweight Gary Whitaker got the final Pirates’ win at 285 pounds.

Orange 60, Chapel Hill 3
CHAPEL HILL — Perennial state 3-A power Orange High School snapped a tie with Chapel Hill and won the Carolina 6 3-A Conference regular-season championship outright on the road Wednesday.
Orange got wins from Joe Scott, Gonzalo Garcia Contoral, Jared Flynn, Collin Smith, Michael Proctor, Jack Twomey-Kozak, Anderson Pope, Melik Jimenez, David Peters-Logue, Drew Lemaster, Aubry Browning, Logan Joseph and Dylan Wilson.
Arthur Colson picked up Chapel Hill’s only win with a 3-0 decision at 285 pounds.
Both teams were undefeated in C-6 play before Wednesday’s match.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Voyager 64, East Wake Academy 41

KNIGHTDALE — Voyager Academy’s defenders created 20 steals, many leading to easy baskets.
Christopher Sause led VA with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Diante Parker added 11 points and 5 steals, and Coltyn Faucette had 8 points and 12 rebounds.

Roxboro Community School 73, NCSSM 63
ROXBORO — Roxboro Community School won its Carolina 12 1-A/2-A Conference showdown with N.C. Science & Math Wednesday behind 23 points from Mickey Drumwright and 22 from Christian Ingram.
Michael Kearney and Joseph Chukwu each scored 18 for NCSSM.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Southern 56, Northern 49

DURHAM — Southern High School remained tied with Hillside for first place in the PAC-6 race at 7-1 and improved to 13-5 overall Wednesday night with its home win over rival Northern.
Ariana Tillman led four Southern double-figure scorers with 12 points, while Addis Lemons and Régene Watson added 11 each and Bryanna Staton 10.
Watson led the Spartans with seven rebounds, while Alexis Joyner led the team in steals with seven and assists with nine.
Lauren Carroll scored 17 to lead Northern, which also got 14 from star Zuri White. Northern dropped to 7-3 in the PAC-6 and 13-6 overall.
