Newton, Vikings topple rival Granville Central

BOYS’ BASKETBALL
South Granville 67, Granville Central 64

STEM — Jonathan Newton posted 15 points and Branden Ragland added 13 to the Vikings’ balanced attack in their 67-64 rally past Granville Central in Carolina 12 boys’ basketball Friday night.
Taz Strudwick added 12 points for South Granville (4-3, 1-1 Carolina 12), which trailed 43-40 heading in the fourth quarter.
Nyquan Wortham notched a game-high 27 points for Granville Central (7-3, 2-1).

Jordan 53, Orange 39
HILLSBOROUGH — K.J. Alston posted nine points to lead Jordan to a 53-39 victory over Orange in boys’ basketball action.
Gerrell Satterwhite paced Orange with nine points, as well.

Cedar Ridge 64, DSA 52
HILLSBOROUGH — Kyle Jones posted 12 points, Fred Villines 11 and Ray Carter 10 to lead Cedar Ridge to a 64-52 win over Durham School of the Arts.

Cresset 57, Trinity-Raleigh 35
RALEIGH — Shawn Lipscomb fired in 33 points and Sherwood Young added 16 to give Cresset Christian a 57-35 win over Trinity of Raleigh in boys’ basketball.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Jordan 63, Orange 16

DURHAM — Millicent Blivin and Asonte Rochelle posted 14 points each to lead Jordan to a 63-16 win over Orange in girls’ basketball action Friday night.
Adrianna Seeney added 10 points for the Falcons (6-3).
Alicia Harris led Orange (1-3) with six points.

Cedar Ridge 42, DSA 23
HILLSBOROUGH — Kyley Clark scored 11 points to lead Cedar Ridge to a 42-23 victory over Durham School of the Arts in girls’ basketball.
Ariel Wilson had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead DSA (2-1, 1-1 Carolina 12).

Cresset 51, Trinity-Raleigh 35
RALEIGH — Maredith Devlin fired in 23 points and Maggie Addison added 14 to give Cresset a 51-35 win over Trinity School of Raleigh in Carolina Christian Conference girls’ basketball.
Melissa Devlin chipped in 13 points for Cresset (5-3, 4-0 Carolina Christian), while Addison pulled down a game-high 17 rebound.
