Hillside girls’ basketball stars Mylea McKennith and Jordyn Smith are joined by Carrboro’s Diamond Tyson on the N.C. Coaches Association East team roster for the 6:30 p.m. July 22 East-West All-Star game at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Smith, the PAC-6 4-A player of the year, is a 5-foot-10 forward/center, and McKenith a 5-7 point guard. They played for Coach Ovester Grays. Tyson, a 5-5 guard, played for Coach Sheremy Clanton.
Meanwhile, defensive back Antonio Davis (5-9, 165) of Southern is the lone area player who accepted an offer to play for the East team in the NCCA East-West All-Star football game on July 24 at 8 p.m. at High Point’s Simeon Stadium.
The all-star rosters include only graduating seniors who are invited to play and accept the invitation. Many players, particularly in football pass on the opportunity because of conflicts with summer school at the colleges for which they’ll play in the fall.
Boys’ basketball and girls’ soccer rosters have not been completed.
Earlier, Owen Ryan of Durham School of the Arts and Than Thwai of Carrboro were named to the East all-star soccer team which will play at 8:30 p.m. July 23 at UNC Greensboro Soccer Stadium.
