CHAPEL HILL — Max Smith cruised to a straight-set win in the top singles flight to spark East Chapel Hill to an 8-1 win over rival Chapel Hill in boys’ tennis on Monday.
Smith beat Bryan Zhang 6-1, 6-2, and later teammed with Drew Clary for a 6-2 win in doubles for the Wildcats (8-3).

DURHAM — Charles Herst and Cameron Pyle combined to win three matches for Jordan, but that’s as close as the Falcons got to Ravenscroft in a 6-3 non-conference tennis loss on Monday.
Herst beat Jack Phillips 6-0, 7-5 in the No. 2 single flight, while Pyle beat Brody Chapman 6-3, 6-2 in the third flight. Herst and Pyle beat Chapman and Mathew Sale 8-3 in doubles.

Riverside rolls

East Chapel Hill’s Ben Griffin took medalist honors, but Riverside walked away with the team victory at a PAC-6 golf match Monday.
The Pirates needed just 160 strokes to take the win, followed by Northern with 166 and East Chapel Hill at 169.
Griffin posted a 38 over the nine holes played, while Nat Pritchard of ECH, Luke Perry of Northern and Carson Hunt of Riverside tied for second at 39.
