BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Jordan 77, Wakefield 36

DURHAM — Star point guard Mike Lee scored 13 points and Julian Reese and Tyreke Frye added 10 points each as Jordan won its season opener against visiting Raleigh Wakefield Wednesday night.

Jordan led 13-11 after the first period, but exploded to a 31-19 halftime lead with an 18-8 edge in the second period. The Falcons pourded it on in the second half, outscoring Wakefield 46-17 in the period.

Chris Braswell and Tequeon Bell each added eight points for Jordan in the win.

 

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

DA 79, New Life Storm 30

DURHAM — Liz Roberts scored a game-high 27 points, Lily Ronco had 16, Dana Williams 12 and Cha’Mia Rothwell 11 as Durham Academy swamped New Life Storm (3-5) to improve to 2-0.

New Life is a team of home-schooled players from Raleigh.

 

SWIMMING

ECH 180, Cedar Ridge 90 (G)

ECH 210, Cedar Ridge 62 (B)

CHAPEL HILL — East Chapel Hill swept both sides of a girls’ and boys’ dual meet against Cedar Ridge Wednesday, taking nine of 11 contested events in each meet.

For the ECH boys, Koya Osada, Liam McCullough, Oliver Hudgins, Michael Wohl swept a pair of relay events and each won an individual event as well.

For the ECH girls, Jennifer Xu, CeCe Marzinsky, Kathy Dai, Chelsea Yu and Morgan Smith each participated in a pair of winning relay teams and Marzinsky and Yu each won a pair of individual titles as well.

Rebecca Churchill won two events for Cedar Ridge and Conor Guest and Josh Chapman each won a boys’ event for the Red Wolves at the Homestead Aquatic Center here.
