GIRLS’ TENNIS

S. Alamance 5, Chapel Hill 4

GRAHAM — Southern Alamance won the Nos. 1-3 singles and Nos. 1-2 doubles Tuesday to defend its home court against visiting Chapel Hill in the non-conference season opener for both teams.

Chapel Hill got wins from Elora Dash, Morgan Alderman and Sam Golden as well as the doubles team of Golden and Emily Molina.



ECH 5, Ravenscroft 4

RALEIGH — East Chapel Hill opened the 2013 season with a 5-4 win on the road against 1-1 Ravenscroft.

The non-conference thriller came down to doubles after three of the singles matches went to tiebreakers with the teams splitting the six matches.

Ravenscroft won at No. 1 singles, by East came back with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 to win it.



VOLLEYBALL

S. Granville 3, Voyager 1

DURHAM — South Granville downed Voyager Academy 25-22, 22-25, 25-13, 19-25 in the non-conference season opener for both teams Tuesday night here.

Sydney Holland had 22 kills and a pair of aces for Voyager.



BOYS’ SOCCER

Voyager 3, S. Granville 1

DURHAM — Diante Parker, Charlie Stone and Chris Hambleton each scored a goal as Voyager Academy opened the 2013 season with a home victory over non-conference foe South Granville.

South Granville dropped to 0-1.



Chapel Hill 4, J-M 2

CHAPEL HILL — Chapel Hill defeated Siler City Jordan-Matthews in the Orange County Invitational Tournament behind goals by Connor Albrecht, Alex Walker, Chandler Weedon and John Walden.

Chapel Hill will host Cary Academy in a second round game at 7:30 tonight.

Chapel Hill improved to 1-0.
