9 area girls' soccer stars named to NCSCA all-state teams

Nine area girls’ soccer players have been named to 2014 all-state teams by the N.C. Soccer Coaches Association.

Leading the way is the Chapel Hill state 3-A champion senior trio of defenders Megan Dell and Laura Sullivan and forward Alex Kimball, named to the public schools 3-A first team.

Named to the 4-A first team is Northern junior Nicole Crutchfield.

Named to the 2-A first team are Carrboro seniors Caroline Houser, a forward, and Emma Houser, a midfielder. Named to the 1-A first team is freshman forward Isabel Pearce of Woods Charter.

Named to the private schools all-classification team are senior midfielder Tara Nagar and senior goalkeeper Dana Williams of Durham Academy.

Among regional honorees, Carrboro coach Jared Drexler was named Region 5 2-A coach of the year.

All-Region 1 — Lakin Barry, Nagar, Jaya Prentis and Williams of Durham Academy.

All-Region 6 (1-A) — Mackenzie Abbott, Renee Brozowski, Martha Farrell, Jade Ogilvie, Pearce and Kat Pike of Woods Charter; Dina Avila, Ciara Edmonds and Christy Johnson of Kestrel Heights; and Hope Garcia of Voyager Academy;

All-Region 5 (2-A)— Daphne Brown and Courtney Phillips of South Granville; Kendall Conder, Lory Galdamez and Maggie Hunt of Durham School of the Arts; Caroline and Emma Houser and Breighton Magee of Carrboro; Shayna Jacobs, Madeline Kerbs, Kelsey McKinney and McKenna Reed of N.C. School of Science and Mathematics.

All-Region 5 (3-A) — Maria Campos of Southern; Dell, Kimball, Frances Reuland and Sullivan of Chapel Hill; Megan Joyner and Rachel Shinnick of Orange; Alexis Zielke and Callie Roundtree of Cedar Ridge; Paige Morrow, Hailey Pister and Jamie Palermo of Northwood; Cala Pike of Oxford Webb.

All-Region 6 (4-A) — Millicent Blivin, Abigail Masten and Stephanie Quintanilla of Durham; Crutchfield of Northern.
