HILLSBOROUGH — Ashley Muench had eight kills, Tara Weller 11 assists and Andie McKinnon eight aces as Orange downed new Big Eight 3-A Conference rival Southern 25-11, 25-8, 25-17.

 

Voyager 3, Franklin 0

DURHAM — Sydney Holland scored 15 points on 11 kills, three blocks and an ace and Megan Harris (six kills, four aces, two blocks) added 12 more as Voyager Academy downed Franklin Academy 25-15, 25-9, 25-13 in a North Central 1-A Athletic Conference match.

 

Cedar Ridge 3, Chapel Hill 1

HILLSBOROUGH — Huge games by Cass Michal (41 assists), Bailey Freeman (16 kills, three blocks), Mary Anderson (22 digs) and Kacia Vines and Becca Churchill (11 points each) lifted Cedar Ridge 25-19, 25-20, 14-25, 25-19 in a battle of new Big Eight 3-A Conference rivals.

Chapel Hill (5-4) lost for the first time in three conference outings, while Cedar Ridge (7-3) improved to 3-0 in league play.

 

Riverside 3, Granville Central 0

DURHAM — Riverside cruised past Granville Central 25-15, 25-14, 25-4 as Yakima Clifton scored 14 points, Moné Jones 12 and Zaria Thomas 10.

Casey Spear had 16 assists and Victoria Pearce 16 digs and seven assists for the Pirates (8-1).

 

Bunn 3, NCSSM 1

DURHAM — Bunn handed N.C. Science & Math its first Northern Carolina 2-A Conference loss after three wins 26-24, 25-19, 19-25, 25-16.

Rebecca Shen had 13 kills, Sam Zarnick 19 assists and Claire Namboodri 42 digs for the Unicorns in the loss.

 

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Jordan 5, Person 4


ROXBORO — Hope Allen, Adrianna Graves, Genevieve Whitcomb and Taylor Phillips won their singles matches and Allen and Jenny Shaw took the No. 1 doubles match to lead Jordan past Person in PAC-6 4-A action Thursday.

Person’s Molly Horton and Danielle Russell won their singles matches and Rockets Cassidy Gille and Russell and Gabrielle Dunn and Kelsey Dawkins won their Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches.

Middle Creek 3, Riverside 0


APEX — Chris Gottberg scored twice and John Eaves once for homestanding Middle Creek (4-1).

Riverside dropped to 0-3 with the non-conference loss.
