The N.C. School of Science and Mathematics had three of the first five individual finishers to take win the state’s 2-A boys’ cross country team championship at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex — formerly Beeson Park — in Kernersville Saturday. Complete area results for all four classifications, all local teams and runners.

Unicorns return to state tennis finals for 7th straight time

N.C. Science & Math (17-0) stopped Carrboro (15-1) 5-2 in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2-A East Region dual team tennis championship to earn a berth in the state finals for the seventh time in as many years, the first since being reclassified from 1-A to 2-A at the end of last season.

NCSSM replaces boys' basketball coach Anthony Myles

45-year-old Derryl Britt, 1-19 during his only season as the Unicorns’ girls’ basketball coach last season, has been named to replace Myles and will continue to coach the girls' team as well.

The N.C. School of Science and Mathematics made short work of visiting Dixon Tuesday, disposing of the Bulldogs 6-0 in the second round of the state 2-A dual-team girls’ tennis championships. ... Second round match between Durham School of the Arts and Carrboro is suspended because of rain with Carrboro leading in all six singles matches.
