Fritsch, Zhang, Carrboro doubles team advance in state playoffs

Carrboro stars Brian Freiburghouse and Jaguar doubles teammates Max Fritsch and Jake Zinn won their first two state individual 2-A boys’ tennis championship rounds at the Cary Tennis Park Friday to advance to today’s 9 a.m. state semifinals.

They are joined in the state semifinal round by one other area player, Chapel Hill singles star Bryan Zhang, who’ll play his 3-A semi at 9 a.m. at Burlington Tennis Center today.

No other area players made it through the opening two rounds.

The state championship round will be played after the conclusion of today’s semifinals.
