Durham’s Jake Odorizzi took a no-hitter into the seventh inning as the Bulls beat Columbus 4-1 in International League baseball Sunday night.

Odorizzi (8-4) didn’t surrender a hit until Columbus’ Chun-Hsiu Chen doubled to lead off the seventh inning. Omir Santos followed with a one-out single to give the Clippers runners at first and third.

But Odorizzi got Juan Diaz

to ground into a double play to end the inning and complete his night of work.

Over his seven innings, Odorizzi allowed just the two hits and no runs while striking out seven and walking only two Columbus batters.

He left with a 2-0 lead, which the Bulls added to with a two-run rally in the eighth inning to lead 4-0.

Cory Wade gave up a run on two hits in the Columbus eighth inning before Adam Liberatore and Kirby Yates covered the final 123 innings.

Yates struck out two to gain his 14th save.

Durham took the lead with a two-run sixth inning rally that broke a scoreless tie.

Clippers starter Danny Salazar kept Durham off the scoreboard over the first five innings. Salazar struck out 11 and allowed only three hits.

But in the sixth inning, with Bryan Price having replaced Salazar, Kevin Kiermaier stroked a lead-off single for the Bulls. Kiermaier took second on a wild pitch.

After Tim Beckham struck out, Vince Belnome hit a ground ball to shortstop. But an error on Diaz allowed Kiermaier to score and Belnome to reach.

Ryan Roberts struck out but Leslie Anderson walked to keep the rally going. Jason Bourgeois made it hurt with an RBI single that put Durham ahead 2-0.

In the eighth inning, two more Columbus errors helped the Bulls double their lead.

Beckham doubled off Preston Guilmet to start the inning before moving to third on a groundout. Roberts hit a groundball to Diaz who threw the ball away. Roberts was credited with a single before he took second on the error.

Anderson then reached when Jeremy Hermida misplayed a fly ball in right field for an error.

Bourgeois singled in Roberts to give Durham a 4-0 lead. Bourgeois finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
