Bulls dominate series vs. Chiefs

Chris Archer and the Durham bullpen continued their mastery of the Syracuse Chiefs on Tuesday afternoon with a 7-1 victory in the series finale.
Archer (4-1) pitched sixth innings, scattering four hits with seven strikeouts and a pair of walks as the Bulls (18-8) won the series 3-1. The Durham pitching staff gave up just six runs in the four-game set, including only one run in the final two games.
Offensively, Leslie Anderson went 3-for-5 with a double, Brandon Guyer had a pair if hits including a triple and Wil Myers blasted his third homer of the season.
Durham took the lead in the first when Guyer singled with one out, Myers walked and Anderson followed with an RBI single.
The Bulls added a run in the fourth when Anderson singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Tim Beckham for a 2-0 lead.
Myers led off the sixth with his homer, and Anderson followed with a double. Vince Belnome was intentionally walked with one out, and Anderson took third on a fly out by Beckham. Cole Figueroa singled in a run, then Craig Albernaz doubled in Belnome and Figueroa for a 6-0 advantage.
The Chiefs (9-16) finally got on the board in the eighth off reliever Jeff Beliveau, with Eury Perez leading off with a single and scoring on a double by Jeff Kobernus. But Believue got out of the inning with a pair of strikeouts.
Rich Thompson drew a one-out walk in the ninth and scored on Guyer’s triple to close the offense.
Bulls closer Josh Lueke retired the Chiefs in order in the ninth.
The Bulls have today off before starting a four-game series at Pawtucket on Thursday.
