Belnome, Bulls batter Chiefs

A day after their offense posted just one run and had three hits, the Durham Bulls displayed the opposite end of the production spectrum on Sunday.
Vince Belnome ripped four hits in five at-bats including a three-run homer to power the Bulls to a 13-3 win over Syracuse in International League action.
In all, Durham had 14 hits off four Syracuse pitchers, as Cole Figueroa, Tim Beckham and Jason Bourgeois added two hits each.
Bulls starter J.D. Martin (2-1) pitched six innings, scattering 10 hits while notching six strikeouts without giving up a walk.
Syracuse got on the board first, plating a pair of runs on back-to-back, two-out doubles by Chris Marrero and Mike Costanzo. But Martin struck out Micah Owings to get out of the inning.
The Bulls struck in the fourth, as Wil Myers reached first on a fielder's choice, went to second when Chris Gimenez walked with two outs and Belnome followed with his fourth homer of the season for a 3-2 lead.
Zack Walters opened the bottom of the fourth with his sixth home run to tie the score, but the Chiefs were held scoreless the rest of the way despite getting the leadoff hitter on base three more times.
The Bulls broke the game open with six runs in the seventh, sending 12 batters to the plate in the inning including a stretch when nine straight reached base. The highlights were a two-run single by Myers and an RBI double by Leslier Anderson.
Beckham singled and later scored on a hit by Bourgeois in the eighth, and Durham added three more in the ninth with RBIs going to Brandon Guyer (double), Figueroa (ground out) and Beckham (single).
