Countdown to Craziness tickets
DURHAM — The Duke men’s basketball team open the 2013-14 season in late September, but the public will have its first opportunity to see the Blue Devils on Oct. 18 with the fifth Countdown to Craziness.
Tickets, starting at $26, go on sale online (GoDuke.com/tickets) at 8 p.m. today, while sales begin at the ticket office at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
Countdown to Craziness features live student performances, highlight videos, sponsored promotions as well as the annual Blue-White game and dunk contest. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., but fans are invited to come out early for live music, inflatable games and face painting.
Duke will play exhibition games against Bowie State (Oct. 26) and Drury (Nov. 2) before opening the season against Davidson on Oct. 8.
Durham Sports Club meeting
DURHAM — The Hugo Germino Sports Ambassador Award will be presented at the Durham Sports Club meeting Wednesday at Croasdaile Country Club.
The award, named for the late sports editor of The Durham Sun, was established to honor deserving citizens who have spent an exceptional amount of time promoting, coaching and working with young people in the Durham community.
The meeting, which begins at noon and features a buffet lunch, is open to the public for a $25 guest fee. More information is available at durhamsportsclub.com.
