Williams wins 2nd straight ACC defensive honor
Duke center Elizabeth Williams is the ACC’s defensive player of the year for the second straight season.
The ACC on Wednesday announced its defensive honorees as selected by the league’s 12 head coaches.
Williams was joined on the all-defense team by Duke teammate Chelsea Gray, Georgia Tech guard Tyaunna Marshall, Miami forward Morgan Stroman and North Carolina center Walteia Rolle.
Williams, who also won the award as a freshman in 2012, leads the conference with 83 blocked shots and has at least one block in each of her 62 college games.
She is the centerpiece of a Duke defense that allowed an average of just 51.5 points in conference games.
