EAGLES EXTRAS: One more hurrah for NCCU alums

Oct. 24, 2013 @ 10:18 PM

Homecoming didn't go so well for N.C. Central the other day, but it wasn't because of a lack of cheering.

The homecoming game featured 62 former Eagles cheerleaders who returned to the school’s sloping hills and verdant green from as far away as Texas and Ohio.

“There was a lot of (joyful) crying going on,” NCCU cheerleading coach LuAnn Edmonds-Harris said.

Edmonds-Harris, who started working at NCCU in 1986, has served as the cheerleading coach at her alma mater since 1990.

The former cheerleaders practiced routines on Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning to prepare for their performance during the homecoming game.
