Smith signs with Croatian team
Former Duke All-American Nolan Smith will continue his professional basketball career overseas.
After playing the past two seasons with the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers, Smith has signed to play with Cedevita Zagreb in the Croatia.
Smith was Portland’s first-round pick in 2011, shortly after being named ACC player of the year during his senior season at Duke. He averaged 20.6 points, following up on the 17.4 points he averaged for Duke’s 2010 NCAA championship team.
But Smith averaged just 3.3 points per game in 84 games for Portland over the last two seasons. He became an unrestricted free agent when the Trail Blazers declined to pick up his option for this season.
