Blue Devils hope familiar setting leads to Sweet 16 success
Duke has the highest winning percentage in NCAA Tournament history (.752), but the Blue Devils have struggled recently in the Sweet 16.
It won’t get any easier for No. 2-seeded Duke this year against No. 3 Michigan State.
The Blue Devils, who are 2-6 in the Sweet 16 since 2001, face the Spartans tonight at Lucas Oil Stadium (9:45 p.m., WRAL).
The most recent time Duke advanced past this round was in 2010, a run that ended with an NCAA championship win over Butler — at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Duke also won its first NCAA title in Indianapolis in 1991, while Michigan State won the championship here in 2000.
The Spartans have won seven of their past nine Sweet 16 games.
