North Carolina sophomore receiver/returner T.J. Thorpe will not play against Georgia Tech Saturday because of an undisclosed injury.

“Not making the trip to (Atlanta) with my bros today but I know they will hold it down until next week,” the Jordan High School graduate wrote on Twitter Friday afternoon.

UNC (1-1) does not release injury information, expect for when players are out for the season, but a team source said that Thorpe was limited in practice this week and was not suspended.

Thorpe missed all of last season with a broken foot. He was the starting punt returner for UNC, gaining 42 yards and a fumble on five returns. Freshman Ryan Switzer will likely take over that position against the Yellow Jackets (noon, ESPN).

Thorpe also had five catches for 17 yards and one kickoff return for 26 yards.
