My AP Top 25 ballot: Ohio State, Auburn crack top 4

Nov. 24, 2013 @ 09:39 AM

After Week 13
1 Alabama
2 Florida State
3 Ohio State
4 Auburn
5 Clemson
6 Stanford
7 Oklahoma State
8 Baylor
9 Missouri
10 Arizona State
11 Oregon
12 South Carolina
13 LSU
14 Wisconsin
15 UCLA
16 Texas A&M
17 Central Florida
18 Michigan State
19 Oklahoma
20 Northern Illinois
21 Louisville
22 Fresno State
23 Georgia
24 Duke
25 Ole Miss

Next up: Southern Cal, Arizona

For the first time, I didn’t have any new entrants in my poll. I really wanted to add Arizona for blowing out Oregon, but that was really its only quality win. In fact, my last team out was Southern Cal, which beat Stanford (and Arizona for that matter), though it lost twice to unranked teams.
Compare that to the teams I kept in – Georgia beat LSU and Southern Cal, and Ole Miss beat LSU and won at Texas by 21 while its four losses were all to Top 13 teams.
Baylor moved out of the top 5 with its blowout loss at Oklahoma State, who jumped from 16 to 7 on my ballot.
My new No. 3 is Ohio State, with Auburn in fourth. While that might appear to put the Buckeyes in the championship game with a loss by Alabama or FSU, it will be hard to keep Auburn from jumping Ohio State if the Tigers beat the Crimson Tide next week, no matter how badly the Buckeyes beat Michigan.
I kept Stanford, with its five Top 25 wins, ahead of most of the one-loss teams for now.
