Roy Williams on the UNC-Duke postponement
I was able to get some quick thoughts from Roy Williams on the day after UNC-Duke was postponed for the first time in the history of the rivalry. The game at the Smith Center was moved from last night to Feb. 20.
How would you describe your emotions throughout the day yesterday?
It was very disappointing to say the least because it was a huge game for us and our fans, a great rivalry game that so many look forward to playing in, coaching in and watching, but I understand that safety issues come first as they of course should. We move on and get ready for Pittsburgh, another outstanding club that is playing well.
What effect, if any, do you think the new schedule will have on your team?
It (the postponement) does impact our schedule next week, but it does for both Duke and us. I don¹t like playing three games in a week again, but Mike¹s team has to deal with that as well.
I hope the people who made plans to come to the game last evening will be able to come next week. People made a tremendous effort to get to the game last night and I want to thank them for that and I hope they will be in the building on the 20th.
