Duke will face Texas A&M
Duke faced the presumptive Heisman Trophy winner on Saturday night in the ACC Championship Game.
The No. 22 Blue Devils will face the reigning Heisman winner in their next game.
Sources on Sunday said Duke will play Johnny Manziel and No. 20 Texas A&M in the Chick-fil-A Bowl at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Dec. 31 at 8 p.m.
The official announcement of the pairing will come tonight at 8:45 p.m.
Duke and Texas A&M have never met in football. The Aggies (8-4) will enter the Chick-fil-A Bowl on a two-game losing streak, having lost to Louisiana State, 34-10, and Missouri, 28-21, in their last two regular-season games.
Manziel is expected to leave Texas A&M for the NFL following this season.
The Blue Devils got a large does of Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston in Saturday night’s ACC title game. Winston threw three touchdown passes and ran for another, earning the game’s MVP award, in a 45-7 win for the top-ranked Seminoles (13-0). The loss ended an eight-game winning streak for Duke (10-3).
The Blue Devils haven’t won a bowl game since beating Arkansas 7-6 in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 2, 1961 in Dallas, Texas.
Chick-fil-A Bowl officials announced a sellout last month. But that includes the tickets which will go to the two schools. Once the announcement is made official tonight, tickets from Duke’s allotment will be available at goduke.com.
