Halftime: Duke leads Denver
Top-seeded Duke is riding its offense to lead Denver on Saturday.
The Blue Devils, averaging 15.06 goals per game, have already received three goals from Jordan Wolf and two from Deemer Class and lead the Pioneers 8-4 at halftime of their NCAA men’s lacrosse semifinal at M&T Bank Stadium.
The Blue Devils (15-3), the reigning NCAA champions, scored the final four goals of the half to break a 4-4 tie. Wolf had the final three goals of the run, giving him a natural hat trick.
Duke is controlling the game’s tempo, holding a 25-10 advantage in shots. Brendan Fowler has been effective on faceoffs, giving Duke an 8-6 edge there.
If Duke holds on to win, the Blue Devils will play for their third NCAA championship, and second in a row, on Monday at 1 p.m. against either Maryland or Notre Dame.
