Two face multiple charges
DURHAM -- A man and woman were arrested Saturday for several offenses, including an assault by the female against the male.
Ronda Lanai Sowell, also identified in records as Rhonda Kincient Sowell, was arrested Saturday by Durham police on charges of assault inflicting serious injury. She allegedly cut a man with a straight razor on Saturday.
Sowell, 37, was also detained on suspicion of failing to appear in court Nov. 19 to deal with a 2009 trespassing case. And she was arrested for the first time on a 2007 charge of failing to return three gold chains and three gold bracelets that were the property of a Durham outlet of Rent America.
Sowell, of 1114 South St., was ordered held without bond and ordered not to assault or threaten the alleged victim.
Vincent Ramon Sowell was also arrested. Police charged him with two counts of felony conspiracy and two counts of fraud.
Police allege that Sowell conspired with Torrance Savage and Sabria Minott to commit corporate malfeasance against RBC Centura, 3412 Westgate Dr., on Sept. 9. They further allege that Sowell obtained $815 from the bank using a counterfeit U.S. Postal Service money order made out to Savage.
Vincent Sowell, 39, lives at 1700 Athens St. He was ordered held on $10,000 bond.
Man faces assault, other charges
DURHAM -- Shaun Derek Dunn, 25, of 2306 E. Main St., was arrested Friday by Durham police and charged with kidnapping, assault and violating a domestic violence protective order.
On Wednesday, Dunn allegedly restrained a female; hit her above the right eye with a closed fist, thereby cutting the woman; and violated a July 8 protective order. Bond was not immediately set. A magistrate barred him from contacting the victim.
ID theft, car theft charges
DURHAM -- Rodney Alexander Edwards, 40, of 1916 Wallace St., was arrested Wednesday on several charges.
Edwards allegedly used the birth certificate and W-2 form of another man to obtain a driver's license. He was charged with multiple counts of identity theft and obtaining property under false pretense.
Also, police say that on Nov. 20, Edwards stole a teal 1998 Oldsmobile and then attempted to obtain $250 from the vehicle owner. Edwards was also charged with possessing a stolen 2005 Ford Focus and a 1994 Mitsubishi Montero.
Edwards also faces two misdemeanor counts of passing worthless checks from 2006 and 2008, a 2003 count of failing to appear in court to deal with a charge of fishing without a license, and a 2007 simple assault charge.
In the same case, Sherry Lynn Feggins, 38, of 2120 S. Alston Ave., was arrested Wednesday and charged with obtaining property by false pretense and conspiring to do so.
Bond was set at $75,000 for Edwards, $7,500 for Feggins.
Man accused of statutory rape
DURHAM -- Carlos Humberto Hernandez Sr., 36, of 2905 Rochelle St., was arrested Wednesday and charged with statutory rape.
Police say that Wednesday, Hernandez assault a 13-year-old male.
Bond was set at $800,000.
