Thirty-eight Durham Technical Community College students were inducted into the college's chapter of Gamma Beta Phi, a national honor and service society for students at both two-year and four-year colleges and universities. Micara Lewis, program director for the college's School-Age Education program, was the keynote speaker at the induction ceremony.

Durham Tech's Gamma Beta Phi chapter has been active this fall, attending the North Carolina/Virginia State Convention on Nov. 8 in Shelby. The chapter won several awards, including a prize for the scrapbook competition. Greg Gassaway, adviser of the college's chapter, was elected associate adviser for the N.C./Va. region). Trandafir is a Student Senate representative, vice president of the Gamma Beta Phi at DTCC and the recipient of the Gamma Beta Phi scholarship this semester.
