We are fortunate to live in an area rich with innovation and invention. Sometimes, because there are so many start-ups driven by talented, creative people, we forget the really amazing things that are happening right in front of us.
An article reporter Laura Oleniacz wrote for Monday’s paper served as a reminder about some of the cool techie stuff taking place in the Bull City. The two-person team that comprises Splitmo -- Rob Whitman and Phil Jacobsen – has come up with what may be the next big thing for gaming. They are working on technology that would allow gamers to use their cellphones or tablets essentially as controllers to play video games on TV screens. It’s an interesting idea, and one that serves as a reminder of the interesting business dreams that area entrepreneurs are pursuing.
We wish Splitmo the best, and want to honor them and others who are pursuing innovations through start-ups with this week’s Grit Award.
