Founders knew what they were doing

In his last letter Kyle Simpson says that "our forefathers... were envisioning people having the right to protect themselves."

Who exactly is he imagining our forefathers were referring to? Armed criminals? No. They were referring to a tyrannical government. You know, the kind of government that wants to confiscate the weapons of law-abiding citizens under the guise of "protecting" them from each other.

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. In 1938, Germany established gun control and from 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews and others unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated. In 1935, China established gun control and from 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents were rounded up and exterminated.

In fact, worldwide in the 20th century, 56 million people were rounded up and exterminated because of gun control. Oppressive, tyrannical, controlling governments have existed since the beginning of recorded history.

People scoff and say that could never happen here. The fact is that this and former administrations have been seizing more power, have been ignoring the Constitution and have been taking our away rights as Americans little by little, day by day.

The founding fathers were extremely wise, forward thinking men who knew exactly what they were doing and they foresaw what could possibly happen because they knew history. We would be stupid to ignore their lessons.

Lessons not learned by the GOP

After a landslide loss last November, and a promise to change. The GOP still clings to their prosaic views.

Take the answer Florida’s Marco Rubio gave when asked how old this planet is. His answer – “I am not a scientist.” True, but he is very intelligent, and knows Earth is more

than 5,000 years old, but he does not want to offend the evangelical. No one told Marco the evangelicals did not vote for Obama. So why fear them? Their power is waning fast.

Another lesson not learned by the GOP -- treatment of women. They hate

Planned Parenthood, failed to act on Violence Against Women Act. Why don't

the Republicans just drop the abortion issue?

If a poll were taken, which party, Republicans or the Democrats are most like the Taliban in their treatment of women, the outcome would be the GOP.

If Republicans want to convince women there is no war on them, rid

the party of people like Todd Akins and Richard Mourdock. Look at the

damage they did last November with stupid statements on abortions.

If the GOP wants to a party of normal they must get rid of the garbage

that has infected their party. First, dump Fox News. They are a bubbling

fountain of bum information. Don't embrace people like Ann Coulter, Beck,

Rush, Nugent, Palin, Trump and everyone connected to the Tea Party.
