Rev. Arutheus Victor Jackson
DURHAM - Rev. Arutheus Victor Jackson, age 61, was born on September 20, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Effie Lee Jackson-Jones and Moses Jones. He attended Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio and later received a Bachelor's degree from Trinity Southern University.
Rev. Jackson was called to the ministry in 1980 under the leadership of Rev. William E. Daye, Pastor of Peace Missionary Baptist Church, where he served 9 years an associate minister.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Yancey Jackson; daughters, Elizabeth Agbabiaka (Ahmed) and Amanda Wallace; son, Alexander Jackson (Jamila); three grandchildren; a mother figure, Elizabeth Williams Young; two sisters and one brother.
Services will take place today at Peace Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Family will greet friends at noon.
The Jackson family is under the care of Scarborough & Hargett Memorial Chapels and Gardens.
DURHAM — Ms. Pearlie Wright, age 71, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013, at Duke Hospice.
The funeral will be conducted on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Mt. Calvary UCC, 1715 Athens St. at 2 p.m. A Visitation with friends will take place one hour prior to the service.
Surviving relatives are two sons, Ronald and Donald Wright; three daughters, Dorothy W. Wright, Johnetta Wright and Chevelle Wright Leathers; two brothers, James Shaw and Joseph Knight; and three sisters, Stella Shaw Wallace and Deborah Shaw Hart and Martha Jenkins.
The family is being assisted by Scarborough & Hargett Memorial Chapels and Gardens.
Nannie Leigh Owen
BULLOCK - Nannie Leigh Owen, age 94, died Friday, September 6, 2013 at E.E. Toney Rest Home. A native of Granville County, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Nellie Newby Faucette and the widow of Clarence G. Owen. Nannie was a member of Marrow’s Chapel United Methodist Church, a retired employee of Burlington Industries and a homemaker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m., Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Marrow’s Chapel United Methodist Church by Reverend Darrel Bowles. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving is a sister-in-law, Frances C. Faucette of Oxford, and numerous nieces and nephews. Nannie was preceded in death by her sisters, Bessie F. Munn, Lena Faucette, Juanita F. Walker, Coreen F. Tingen and Lula F. Riggan; brothers, John H. Faucette, Dan M. Faucette and M.T. Faucette.
Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to Marrow’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 2828 Morgan Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church.
