Charlotte Revels

DURHAM — Charlotte Revels, 66, departed her life on October 4, 2013. She leaves behind her son, Jeffery Revels; three grandchildren; and three sisters, Edna Chavis, Ellen R. Toriam, Carolyn Bryan.
Visitation will be at Holloway Memorial Funeral on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at noon. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m.

Dwight Torian Whitley
DURHAM — Dwight Torian Whitley, 60, departed his life on October 5, 2013.
He leaves behind his lovely wife of three years, Dotti E. Whitley; one grandson, De-Quan Lewis; two sisters, Lessie Townsend and Margaret White; and one sister-in-law, Arline Malone.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Holloway Memorial Funeral Home. The viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Funeral will begin at 12:00 at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church on Thursday October 10, 2013. Dr. Cornelius E. Battle Sr. will be the officiating pastor.

Bobby (Bob) Lynn Cunningham

OXFORD — Bobby (Bob) Lynn Cunningham, 82, formerly of Durham, North Carolina, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Duke Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a private pilot and enjoyed restoring old tractors. He was a member of Yates Baptist Church in Durham and was a former member of the Durham Lions Club for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammi C. Williams and husband, Gary of Oxford; three grandchildren, Tyler and Morgan Williams of Oxford and Adam Cunningham of Apex; a brother, Joe Cunningham; and a sister, Sue Banks, both of Kentucky. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Loretta Cunningham; and his son, David Cunningham.
A visitation will be held Friday, October 11th, 2013 at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for family and friends.

Chester O. Poole

CEDAR GROVE — Chester O. Poole, 92 (Necktie), son of the late David and Lillian Bradsher Poole died Saturday at home.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday in Union Grove Baptist Church. Visitation in Chavis-Parker Funeral Home 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Surviving are sons, Billy Poole, Howard Poole, Arthur Poole and Dwight Poole (Rose); daughters, Faye Stanley (Rufus), Mae Catherine Watson, Phyllis Poteat (Jackie), Betty L. Poole, Donna Poole, Linda Bradsher (Benjamin), Clastine Covington (Jerome) and Jacqueline Willoughby (Marvin); 14 grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mozelle Cearnal.

Charles B. Sebastian
CHAPEL HILL — Charles B. Sebastian, 99, died in Chapel Hill early Thursday morning, October 3rd.
Mr. Sebastian is survived by his sons in Denmark, Walter Sebastian and wife, Karen, and Frederick Sebastian and wife, Janna; as well as two grandsons; four great grandchildren; his sister, Bettye Wise of Conway, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The fifth of eight children, Mr. Sebastian was born in Surry County, N.C. to Charles Alexander Sebastian and Etta Holbrook Sebastian. He graduated from High Point public schools and High Point College.
While living in New York City, he was employed by the Paramount Theater Corporation and during World War II served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Pacific then later at the Pentagon before joining the U.S. Department of State. He retired as a Vice Consul having been stationed at diplomatic consulates in Nogales, London, Copenhagen, Nairobi, Cairo, and Stuttgart.

Dorothy Tarlton
HILLSBOROUGH — Mrs. Dorothy Tarlton, 81, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at her home. She was born in Davie County to the late Georgie Lee Phelps and the late Ada Bell Swicegood Phelps. Mrs. Tarlton was a faithful member of Wayside Baptist Church.
Mrs. Tarlton is survived by her daughters, Wanda T. Godfrey (David) of Hillsborough; Darlene T. Bullock (Gerald) of Hillsborough; son, Bobby Ray Tarlton Jr. (Tammy); brothers, George Phelps Jr. “Bud”, Tommy Phelps, James Phelps; sisters, Colene Miller, Sylvia Reavis, Mary Alice Straney (Dennis), Faye Tarlton; eight grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Wayside Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Williams and Rev. Mark Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Wayside Baptist Church.

Ruth Dodson Thomas
CHAPEL HILL - Funeral services for Ruth Dodson Thomas, age 86, who passed away on October 5th will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday October 11th at Farrington Road Baptist Church in southwest Durham County.
The family will receive friends starting at 1:30 prior to the service. Interment will be at Westwood Cemetery in Carrboro immediately after the service.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband of 64 years, John E. Thomas, Sr. She is also survived by four children, John E. Thomas, Jr. and wife, Arlene of Durham, Mary Ann Ryan and husband, Ed of Havelock, NC, Ellen Ellis of Carrboro, and Eugene Thomas and wife, Leisa of Sanford. She is survived by four grandchildren: Stacey Thomas, Haley Thomas, William Ryan, and Cory Thomas; and by a brother, James R. Dodson and wife, Barbara of Athens, TN. She is predeceased by brother, Eugene E. Dodson.

John Dennis Wilson

ROXBORO — John Dennis Wilson, 66, of 147 Jack Crumpton Road, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at his home following an extended illness under Hospice Care. Born in Glen Cove, NY, son of the late John Joseph Wilson & Viola Czizik Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a retired welder & had previously worked as a Diesel Mechanic for Fleig Trucking. He served in the US Army from 1968 to 1976 during the Vietnam War & was a member of Sts. Mary & Edward Catholic Church.
Surviving is his wife, Cynthia Crumpton Wilson of the home; two sons, John Jason Wilson of Roxboro, Thomas Daniel Wilson of Roxboro; his Mother & Father In Law, Shirley & Jack Crumpton of Roxboro; three brothers-in-law, Martin Crumpton, Kevin Crumpton & Wayne Crumpton.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Allensville United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. Don Davis & assisted by Mr. Hermann Schmidt.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Viola Pearce Rigsbee

WAKE FOREST — Viola Pearce Rigsbee, 89, formerly of Durham died Monday morning, October 7, 2013. She was born in Wake County daughter of the late Clavenia Wilkes Pearce and George Pearce. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duma Rigsbee; two sons, Robert and Tommy; and a daughter, Brenda.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Rigsbee is survived by her children, Dorothy Johnson of Durham, Hallie Harp of Wake Forest, Bea McGhee and husband, Buster of Butner, George Rigsbee and wife, Erma of Raleigh; a sister, Katie Allen of Stem; 12 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren.
