David Norman Long Jr.
DURHAM - David Norman Long, Jr., 31, died at home unexpectedly Friday. A Durham native, he was born March 20, 1981 to David N. “Crockett” Long and Anne S. Long. A 1999 graduate of Jordan High School and the Hill Center, David attended Lees-McRae College and UNC-Wilmington. He worked for several years as a marketing representative with Fiji Water Co. in Delray Beach, FL prior to retuning to Durham in 2012 when he joined CVS as a pharmacy technician.
David will be remembered for his big heart, infectious warmth and his love of family and friends. His caring soul always saw the best in everyone he met. David loved and cared for all unconditionally.
Surviving are his mother, Anne Satterfield Long, of Durham; and father, David “Crockett” Long, of Raleigh; his sister, Robin Castillo and husband, Steve, of Fort Worth, TX; nieces, Bailey, Anne Marsh and Davie Castillo; aunts and uncles, Linda James, Mary Beth and Frank Arcioulo, Anita Long Shore, Joy Long, Rodney Long, Donald Long and William Strickland, and Thomas Long and Stewart Woodard; his cousins, Megan James, Tracy Willis, CorieLatta, Macey Long, Erin Shore and Bradley Shore. He was predeceased by his uncle, James A. Long; and aunt, Mary Anne Long.
David’s funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Church of the Good Shepherd, with the Rev. Dr. David A. Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Old Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may visit 5:30-8:30 PM Tuesday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Long, Tommy Long, Donald Long, Steve Castillo, Matt Chilausky, Will Harrington, Don Shea, Bradley Shore, Chris Valauri and Guy Whilden. Dorothy McAllister Mewborn
DURHAM – Mrs. Dorothy McAllister Mewborn, 89, a longtime school teacher, died Sunday morning, March 3, 2013 at Carver Living Center after a brief illness.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at White Rock Baptist Church, 3400 Fayetteville St. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 1 p.m.
Survivors are a brother, Raymond McAllister Sr.; sister-in-law, Pearl J. McAllister; nephews, Raymond McAllister Jr., Tadeus Ochman; niece, Glenda McAllister Ochman; great nieces, Gabriella and Daniella Ochman; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at 206 W. Weaver St.
Public viewing, Wednesday, March 6 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Parlor.
Richard Cornelious “R.C.” Mixon
DURHAM — Mr. Richard Cornelious “R.C.” Mixon, 87, of Durham, died on Sunday, March 3, 2013.
Mr. Mixon was born in Toombs County, Ga., to the late George Wiley Mixon and Lillie Rachel Mixon. He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired self-employed plumber. He was preceded in death by his siblings, L.K. Mixon, Mary Lou Mixon Dowd, Bo Mixon, Medford Mixon, Leo Mixon Malone, Roberta Mixon Urbanski, Thadys T. Mixon and Evelyn Mixon Bryant.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Ann Cox Mixon; one son, Richard E. Mixon of Knoxville, Tenn.; one brother, Jack Edward Mixon and wife, Bernice of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Hazel Exley and husband, Charles of Savannah Ga.; two grandchildren, Devin and Jarred Mixon and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. J. B. Ellis. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Ferman P. Pape Sr.
DURHAM - Mr. Ferman P. Pape Sr., 90, departed this world March 4, 2013 to join his beloved wife, I. Mae Pape. Mr. Pape was reared in Marietta, Ohio and had lived in Durham, NC for the past 8 years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Sears, Roebuck and Co.
Mr. Pape is survived by a son, Ferman P. “Skip” Pape Jr. (Darlene) of Durham, NC; and four grandchildren, Scott Pape (Janine) of Shaker Heights, OH, Lynn DiMarino (Joe) of North Olmstead, OH, Ferman P. “Skipper” Pape, III (Mary) of Suwanee, GA, Marcel Shoemaker of Roanoke, VA, Tony Shoemaker of Chula Vista, CA; and five great grandchildren.

DURHAM – Tony Peele, of Durham, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at his residence. Born in Durham County, Tony was the son of Bobby Peele and Judy Westbrook Peele; and his birthfather, Curtis Blackburn.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Peele is survived by a daughter, Kirstin Peele, of Durham; son, Cody Medlin; and a step-daughter, Mykaela Chamberlain, of Durham.
A memorial service will be conducted 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Christian Center, 3518 Rose of Sharon Rd., Durham, NC, with Rev. Don Westbrook officiating.

Kathleen “Kathy” Munson
CHAPEL HILL — Kathleen “Kathy” Munson, 64, died on Saturday, March 2, 2013. Kathy was born in Camp LeJeune, NC to John Duane and Agnes Boyle Case on November 17, 1948.
Kathy had an abiding interest in astrology, a love of home and office organization, and an endless generosity of spirit. She was known for her intense, intimate conversations aimed at making a difference in the lives of others. She saw grace in everyone she met and had the avocation and ability to help others wherever she found them. One of her greatest joys was seeing her home filled with people—especially her extended family.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Bruce Munson, of Chapel Hill, NC; daughters, Jesse Dee Haney and husband, Ryan, Dia Baker and husband, Brian, Erin Munson; sons, Jason Baker and wife, Sandy, Christopher Munson; brothers, John Case and Frank Case; sisters, Mary Case, Polly Glowatz and Susan Sulby; grandchildren, Alyssabeth, Aaron, Aurelia, Joshua, Anthony, Ashley, Bella, Ezekiel, Mariah, Riley, Alexandra, Emma Lou and Ardea. Kathy is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, CiCi Case.
A funeral service will be offered 2 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013 from University Presbyterian Church, 209 E Franklin St Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
