Ralph Benjamin Aultman
DURHAM — Funeral services for Mr. Ralph Benjamin Aultman, 71, of Durham, will be conducted on Saturday at 2 p.m. from Bethel Tabernacle United Holy Church. The family will meet with their friends 30 minutes before the funeral.
Survivors are one son, Mr. Ricky Allen (Sabrina); two daughters, Mrs. Celeste Stackhouse (Marcel), Ms. Priscilla Knighton; one sister, Mrs. Laura Hobbs (Calvin Jr.); one brother, Mr. Wiley Aultman (Laura); 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grands; and a host of other relatives and friends.

James Douglass Odell Daniel Sr.
DURHAM - Mr. James Douglass Odell Daniel Sr. was born September 20, 1919 in Oxford, N.C. He passed away November 26, 2012 at his home in Durham. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 12 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. The family will receive friends an hour before the service and all other times at this home, 8 W. Thomas JR Harrison
DURHAM - Thomas JR Harrison, 63, departed his life on November 23, 2012.
He leaves a loving wife and friend, Barbara of the home; two daughters, four sons, four sisters, three grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be at Northeast Baptist Church, Saturday at 1 with visitation at 12 noon.

Jean Stroud Killett
DURHAM – Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Stroud Killett, 70, of 506 Buxton Street, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church, 1408 Holloway Street. Public viewing 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church.
She was a 1960 graduate of Horton High School and 1964 graduate of North Carolina Central University. Also, she was a retired school teacher from Durham Public Schools.
Survivors include a daughter, Tiwanna Killett; former husband, Thomas Killett; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister, Vallie S. Brown; Goddaughter, Kellie Odell Armwood.

William Earl Marshall "Eyes"
DURHAM — William Earl Marshall "Eyes", 67, son of the late Ruben and Gennerea Marshall, was born on November 28, 1944 in Durham. He departed this life on November 24, 2012 after a long illness at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 12 noon at the Chapel of American Cremation Services, Inc., 1204 Person Street, Durham.
He is survived by his brother, Edward Marshall of Durham; three sisters, Shirley M. Thompson of Durham, Ruby M. Bass and Gwendolyn M. Phillips, both of Baltimore, Md.
Family will be at the home of Arthur and Shirley M. Thompson, 1214 Landon Street.
Margaret Louise Helms McBroom
DURHAM – Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Louise Helms McBroom, 92, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2508 Crest Street. Family visitation, 1 hour prior to service.
Survivors include a son, Emanuel McBroom; five grandchildren; a sister, Helen R. Lewis.

Leroy William Waller
HILLSBOROUGH - Leroy William Waller, born June 13, 1917 in Newark, N.J. to the late William and Kate Waller, died November 28, 2012 in Carver Living Center, Durham.
The funeral will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday in First Community Baptist Church. Family visitation: 30 minutes before the funeral in the church.

Charles Leon Hopkins Sr.
HOLLY SPRINGS — Charles Leon Hopkins Sr. of 215 W. Earp St., Holly Springs, departed this life on November 26, 2012.
He graduated from Berry O’Kelly High School in Method in 1956. He is the son of the late Joseph and Rena Hopkins of Morrisville.
He is survived by his son, Charles Leon Hopkins Jr.; three grandchildren, Cheyenne, Ashley and Alexis Hopkins.
His funeral services will be Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Pleasant Grove Church, 1528 Davis Dr., Cary. Family will receive friends and family at 12 p.m., service will start at 1 p.m.
Leona Dement Beasley
CLARKSVILLE, VA. - Mrs. Leona Dement Beasley, 98, widow of Benjamin Franklin Beasley Sr., passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Meadow View Terrace in Clarksville. Mrs. Beasley was born March 2, 1914 in Granville County, N.C. to the late William Edward and Harriett Caroline Hicks Dement. Leona was employed with Burlington Industries for 35 years, working in the Finishing Department and the Burling & Mending Department. Known for her excellent skills as a seamstress, she also loved to crochet. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Jane Lyon officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Oxford, N.C. Mrs. Beasley is survived by her sister, Carolyn Dement Thaxton of Oxford; sons, Benjamin Franklin “B.F.” Beasley Jr. and his wife, Betty Stewart, of Sugar Hill, Ga. and James Edward Beasley I, of Hillsborough. Her grandchildren, Carol Beasley Cowan, Jamie Lynne Beasley, Linda Beasley Lawrence (Brian), Lisa Beasley Webb (Allen), Kevin Stewart Beasley (Marie) and Keith Franklin Beasley (Amy); 10 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her brother, Elbert Edward Dement, and her grandchildren, Amy Lynne Beasley and James Edward Beasley II. Daisy Hobgood Clark
SOUTHPORT - Mrs. Daisy Hobgood Clark, 85, died Wednesday morning at her home. Mrs. Clark was born in Granville Co., the daughter of the late Josh Hobgood and the late Maggie Faucette Hobgood. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Mutual Drug Stores.
Mrs. Clark is survived by her husband, Thomas Wilbur Clark; and a daughter, Wanda Brafford and husband, Brad, of Southport.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 2 p.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.

James Layman Westbrook Jr.
SOUTHERN PINES — James Layman Westbrook Jr., 68, died as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident on Nov. 27.
He had just begun to serve as Interim County Manager of Moore County on Nov. 26. Jim had a long and successful career both in public service and in the U.S. Army. He served as the City Manager of Asheville from 1994-2005, the Town Manager of Cary from 1988-1994 as well as numerous other positions in local government finance in NC and VA.
Jim retired from the U.S. Army Reserves having attained the rank of Colonel, and served in Viet Nam and Operation Desert Storm. He received The Bronze Star, a Meritorious Service Medal and various other awards and decorations.
Jim was on the Board of Advisors of the Senior Executive Institute of the University of Virginia, the Board of Directors of the School of Government Foundation at UNC Chapel Hill, and served as a Senior Advisor to the International City and County Managers Association.
Born in Durham and graduating from Durham High School in 1963, Jim went on to earn a BA in Political Science from UNC Chapel Hill, an MA in Political Science with an emphasis in Public Administration from Appalachian State University and certificates in the Government Executives Institutes from UNC and the University of Virginia.
He has participated actively in the communities in which he has lived through Rotary Clubs, United Way Executive Board, Economic Development Commissions, Sister Cities Programs, Moore County Hounds, Friends of Weymouth and various church boards. He was a member of Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Southern Pines.
Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Diane Thompson Westbrook; his son, James Blair Buchanan Westbrook and wife, Marguerite of Columbia, SC; his son-in-law, Daniel Arthur Turton of Washington DC; grandchildren, Shaw Layman Preston Turton, Lane Buchanan Ainsworth Turton, and Mason Grace Taylor Turton; sisters, Janie Ann Westbrook of Durham and Delores Kurtti of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is pre-deceased by his daughter, Ashley Westbrook Turton; and his parents, James Layman Westbrook Sr. and Janie Pauline Westbrook of Durham.
A memorial service will be held today, November 30 at 2 p.m. at Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Southern Pines and the burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery in Chapel Hill at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012.
