Nathaniel A. Bullock
DURHAM — Nathaniel A. Bullock, 68, departed his life on April 15, 2013.
He leaves behind his dear wife, Emma Bullock; two daughters; four sons; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of close family and friends.
The viewing will be held at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 1 p.m. and the service at 2 p.m.
Earl Wade Copeland
DURHAM — Earl Wade Copeland of Durham, NC passed away on April 16, 2013 after suffering an extended illness. The funeral visitation will be held at Clements Funeral Home in Durham, NC on Friday, April 19, 2013, from 12 to 1:45 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham with Rev. Mark Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbears will be David Blake Corry, Ed Palmer, Damon Frazee, Tony Neville, Gary Palmer, and Trey West.
Wade was born in Farmville, NC on August 4, 1930. He graduated from Durham High School, class of 1948, where he lettered on the track team. He was married to Cyd Copeland of Durham, NC for 56 years.
Before joining the Army he worked as a heavy equipment operator for the John Brinkley Construction Co who built the water treatment plant at West Durham Reservoir, and helped build several of the bridges over I-85. He then joined the Army in 1948 and quickly worked his way up to a Sergeant First Class serving with the 113th Combat Engineers. He then went to work of the County of Durham back in the mid 50’s and retired after a 33 year career of service with the County of Durham. Following this time, he continued working to help Durham as Maintenance Director at the Durham Housing Authority until 1997.
He had a passion for fishing, genealogy and was actively involved as the NC State Vice Commander of the American Legion for two years. His love of baseball affected not only his son, Will, but many other young men throughout his life serving as Athletic Director for American Legion Post #7 in Durham. He volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader and authored “On Little Creek”, a book that revealed his love of nature. He built his own home, and three other properties located adjacent to the Museum of Life and Science, where he served on their board. In the final analysis, the greatest joy of his life was the epic oyster roasts he shared with any and all that would partake:)
Wade Copeland is survived by his wife, Cyd Copeland; children, Allen Copeland, William Copeland and Paulette Corry; grandchildren, Damon Frazee, Andrea Copeland and Carla Copeland; great grandchildren, Brandon Douglas Frazee and Tyler Catherine Frazee; and a host of family and friends.
Wade is preceded in death by his father, Wade Dunlap Copeland; mother, Gladys Brigman Copeland; and brother, John Wesley Copeland.

Aggie Nora Jones Daniels
DURHAM — Mrs. Aggie Nora Jones Daniels, 92, died Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Brian Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Her service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 19, at Burthey Funeral Chapel, 1510 Fayetteville St. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. at the chapel on Friday, one hour prior to the service.

DURHAM — Eugene Hayes departed this life on April 11, 2013, with loving daughter, Heather Marie Hayes. Life time resident of Durham, NC, he married August 30, 1972 to Doris Johnston Walker. Eugene Hayes graduated from Hillside High School and went to the military (Fort Jackson, SC, 101st Airborne Division). He was Honorably Discharged on August 21, 1957. Eugene Hayes was a teacher and coach at Bragtown School. In addition, he worked as a part time Banquet Captain at Croasdaile Country Club and Sheraton Imperial Inn. "Uncle Gene" was an avid golfer and a member who held several positions in Bull City Golf Club. Eugene Hayes worked with the Parks and Recreation of Durham and long time Field Manager of the Long Meadow Baseball Teams. He taught and retired from Wright School in 1996.
We honor and cherish his memory: a daughter, Heather Marie Hayes; a wife, Doris Johnston Hayes; several nieces: Valerie, Genevieve, Beryl, Marrissa; nephews: Stephen and Michael; and a host of relatives and family friends.
His funeral will held at Community Baptist Church, 4821 Barbee Road, Durham, NC on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 12 noon with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. until 12 noon.
Services are entrusted to Scarborough & Hargett Memorial Chapel and Gardens.
DURHAM — Mr. Louis Johnson, 98, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Duke Medical Center. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and employed by Thomas and Howard for several years.
Survivors include sisters, Zelma Mans, Louvenia Parrish and Maryland Harris; brothers, Rev. E.W. Johnson Sr. and O.C. Johnson; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 1 p.m. at New Red Mountain Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12 noon. Friends may visit the family daily at 1205 Landon Street. (home of James Johnson, nephew).
Services are entrusted to Scarborough and Hargett Memorial Chapel and Gardens.
Elinor (LB) Rodgers Clemons
CHAPEL HILL — Elinor (LB) Rodgers Clemons of Chapel Hill passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013.
She is survived by six sons, Wilbert (Ernestine), Ernest (Evelyn), Edward (Myrtle), Rondie (Dee), Clyde (Maythel), Gary Hargraves; foster son, Tranis (Dorothy); sister in-law, Ozzie Currie; brother in-law, Raymond Burnette; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 530 Lystra Church Rd., Chapel Hill. Visitation 1 to 1:30 p.m., service 2 p.m. with Rev. Larry Neill officiating, Eulogy by Rev. Norris Trice.
Bruce William Street
TIMBERLAKE - Mr. Bruce William Street, 82, of Timberlake, died on Tuesday, April 16, 2013.
He was the son of the late James Newton Street and Lillian Blalock Street. He served in the Korean War. He retired from Sperry Rand. He was a member of Somerset Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Hazel Street Blackwood, Evelyn Nichols; and brother, James Bernice Street.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruth Walker Street; one daughter, Janice Street Ellis (Billy); one grandson, Taylor William Ellis; sister, Trenis Street Bennett (Harold) and a brother, Rev. Thomas Street (Jeanette).
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Hugh O’Shields will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
