Kenneth Edward Cohn, Sr.
DURHAM — Kenneth Edward Cohn, Sr., 81, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014. Born in Durham, Mr. Cohn was the son of the late Elijah Alexander Cohn and Lona Johnson Cohn. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Dan Cohn. Mr. Cohn is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Ken and wife, Tammy; brother, Joseph and wife, Kitty; granddaughter, Brooke; grandson, K.C. and wife, Meshell, as well as 4 great-grandchildren, Elijah, Jacob, Silas and Allison.
Kenneth served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of Park View Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. His most cherished work was with the youth. He worked with the Boy Scouts of America serving as Scoutmaster of Troop 435 for many years. He retired from the Research Department of Liggett and Myers Tobacco Co. after 33 years.
Kenneth was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and neighbor who spent his life doing for others.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Park View Baptist Church, 2500 Acadia St., Durham, 27704 with Rev. Susan Rogers officiating. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the church.

Jonnie Windham Tonn
DURHAM — Jonnie Windham Tonn went to be with the Lord and her loving husband, Charlie, on August 12, 2014. Jonnie was born on October 22,1922, and was a lifelong resident of Durham.
Jonnie's Christian life was spent ministering to and blessing anyone she came into contact with. Her sweet, loving, and generous disposition will always be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by two sons, Chuck and his wife, Beth of Florida, and Kevin and his wife, Anne of Durham. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Cameron, Cristina, and Morgan and a sister, Faye Woods of Durham, along with several nieces and nephews.
Jonnie and her family would like to express their sincere love and appreciation to her church family, Christian Assembly in Durham. These wonderful people were such a blessing to her throughout her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Jonnie on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Christian Assembly in Durham with Pastor Dub Karriker officiating.

Ralph Aiken Pope Jr.
CREEDMOOR — Ralph Aiken Pope Jr., 94, passed away at home Sunday, August 17, 2014.
He was a native of Granville County, born December 22, 1919 to the late Ralph Pope Sr. and Carmen Peace Pope. He served in the US Army during WWII.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church by Rev. Michael Edwards. Interment will follow in the family cemetery on Pope Road in Creedmoor.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edith Holmes Pope; sons, Michael Pope of Durham, Bruce Pope and wife Linda and granddaughter Emma, all of Hendersonville; two sisters, Carmen Hoyle of Sanford, Mildred Peed of Creedmoor; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Billie Weeks.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 2:00-3:00 PM prior to the funeral service in the fellowship hall and at other times at the home.
