James Lee “Jim” Dillehay
DURHAM — James Lee “Jim” Dillehay, 57, a lifelong resident of Durham, died on Monday, July 28, 2014, after an extended illness.
Jim was born to the late Robert Lee Dillehay and Mary Lee Matthews Dillehay. He was a 1975 graduate of Durham High School. He worked for NC Mutual Drug Company for several years and also for Nortel. Jim spent the majority of his career as a Service Manager at Healthcare Equipment Company, until his illness forced him to retire.
Jim was an avid fan of NASCAR and of his favorite driver, Richard Petty. He was a passionate fan of the Washington Redskins, and enjoyed attending several games over the course of his life. He also loved a good hand of poker, beach trips and holiday gatherings of the extended family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Robin Fisher Dillehay; sons, Bryan Keith Dillehay and wife, Robin Martin Dillehay, and Matthew Robert Dillehay and partner, Chelsea Bennett; and aunt, Juanita Dillehay Pendergraft. He is also survived by his step-children, Brian Scott Lewis and wife, Heather Roberts Lewis of Creedmoor, and Holly Brooke Lewis Sanseverino and husband, Chris of Durham.
Jim was a very proud Papa to his grandsons and “little buddies” Cole Michael Lewis, Beckett Scott Sanseverino and Myles Keegan Sanseverino. They loved playing in Papa’s Garage, and riding around with Papa on his golf cart.
Jim is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Bonita Fisher Roemmich and husband, Richard of Efland and Lori Fisher Leeds and husband, David of Durham; and a brother-in-law, Kelly Thornburg of Durham, and his mother-in-law, Billie Thornburg of Durham.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Morris Westbrook will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hilliard, Randy Roycroft, Tim Thomas, Buddy Owen, David Maynard and Tom Austin.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Nettie Christine Burnett Nickerson
PITTSBORO — Ms. Nettie Christine Burnett Nickerson, 101, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at her home in Pittsboro, NC. She was born in Chatham County on May 19, 1913 to Abraham and Wescott Burnett. She was united in holy matrimony to Tom A. Nickerson and to this union 6 children were born: Ruth O'Kelly of Graham, NC, Thomas Clinton Nicholson (Emma) and Curtis Nicholson, Sr. (Tina) of Chapel Hill, Lucille Leonard (Floyd) of Durham, Lillian Latta and Bill Nicholson of Pittsboro. Other survivors include her sister-in-law, Annie M. Burnett of Pittsboro. Visitation will be Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 12:30-1:00 PM and funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM at Hamlet Chapel CME Church, 1280 Hamlet Chapel Church Rd., Pittsboro. Margaret “Maggie” Walston May
CREEDMOOR — Margaret “Maggie” Walston May passed away Sunday at the age of 93. Born September 2, 1920 in Edgecomb County, she was the 6th of eight children born to Wright Wiggins Walston, Sr. and Margaret Louisa Corbett. She married G.E. May in 1938 and accompanied him during his 20 years of service in the Navy. They settled in Rougemont, NC and established Washoe Kennels where they bred and raised beagles.
She is survived by a son, Winston May (Linda) of Rougemont, two grandsons, Matthew May and Michael Harp, Jr., two great-granddaughters, Laurel and Cameron Harp, and one sister, Anne Drake of Wilson, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM, Friday, August 1, 2014 at Eakes Funeral Chapel, Creedmoor, NC. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 to 12:30PM at the funeral Home prior to the service. The burial will be held in Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Nancy Ann Jones Cozart
CHAPEL HILL — Nancy Ann Jones Cozart departed her earthly life on July 26th , 2014. Nancy was the only daughter of Clabon and Roxie Jones, who preceded her in death.
Nancy received a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University and a Master’s of Public Administration from North Carolina Central University. She retired from UNC after 33 years of nursing in 2008. She was very active in her community and served on many boards and committees. In addition, she was a member of the Orange County Public Health Reserve Corps, an OCIM Delegate, an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and a member of Mt. Bright Baptist Church.
Nancy leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Lorenzo Cozart Jr., and her only daughter, Kristen Roxanne Cozart. Services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, July 31st at Mt. Bright Baptist Church, 211 West Union Street, Hillsborough, NC. Family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church and Delta Sigma Theta Omega Service will be held during that time.

Donald Eugene Elliott
CHAPEL HILL — Mr. Donald Eugene Elliott, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC.
A memorial service will be held in September.
Born in Gastonia, NC on November 22, 1932, he was a son of the late Clyde Parks and Minnie Wall Elliott. He was honorably discharged from the US Air force and attended Appalachian State, where he met Edith Greene. Following their marriage in 1958, he graduated with a physics degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and went on to become an electronics engineer with Western Electric, Duke University and the University of North Carolina, before retiring from the Environmental Protection Agency. He loved to travel and has spent the past fifteen years seeing much of the world with a wonderful friend and companion, Bonnie Knoke of Fairfax, VA.
Mr. Elliott was an avid learner and loved to read about a wide variety of subjects. He was also a published author of several books and a number of poems. He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Edith Greene Elliott, and his sister, Nancy Joyce Elliott.
Surviving are his son, David Carroll Elliott and his fiance, Stephanie Landis of North Bend, WA; his daughter, Janice Ruth Elliott Miller and her husband, Wayne P. Miller, Jr. of Rock Hill, SC; two brothers, Jerry Clyde Elliott of Orlando, FL and Robert Torrence Elliott, Sr. and his wife, Edwina Haley Elliott of St. Charles, MO; two grandchildren, Coard Elliott Miller and Emilie Regan Miller, both of Rock Hill, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
