Rev. Willis Clarence Lassiter
DURHAM — Rev. Willis Clarence Lassiter, age 79, departed this life at Durham VA Medical Center in Durham, NC on October 19, 2013. He was born July 5, 1934 in Wake County, NC to the late Narvie H. Lassiter and Margie Upchurch Lassiter, the oldest of eight children. He served two years in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic. He worked 27 years for IBM. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; and six siblings to cherish his memory, Dr. E. Lee Lassiter (H. Louise), Mary L. Bynum, Jean L. Horton, Janie L. Thomas, Lewis I. Lassiter (Phyllis), and Ava L. Sweeney. He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond H. Lassiter (Ernestine). His siblings blessed him with treasured nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church located at 581 New Hope Church Rd., in Apex, NC on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 1 p.m., visitation at 11:30 a.m. 
Arrangements entrusted to Fisher Funeral Parlor.

Chad Eric Pergerson
ROUGEMONT — Chad Eric Pergerson, 37, of Rougemont, died Saturday, October 19, 2013.
Born in Durham County, Mr. Pergerson was the son of the late Fred "Pete" Pergerson and Jeanette Bowling Pergerson, who survives, of Rougemont. Mr. Pergerson was a fireman with the City of Roxboro Fire Department and also a volunteer fireman with the Moriah Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Honor Guard with the City of Roxboro Fire Department. He raced cars at Orange County Speedway and was an avid NASCAR fan.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Pergerson is survived by his wife, Jamie Mooney Pergerson; his daughter, Brianna Grace Pergerson; his sister, Sharon "Sherry" Gill and husband, Lee, of Rougemont; and his niece, Erica Sumner.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2013, at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church by the Rev. Barry Chambers.  Burial will follow in the Bowling Family Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-2:30 p.m., Monday, at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be the members of the Roxboro Fire Department Honor Guard.
Honorary pallbearers will be fireman.

Otis Reid Pulley
DURHAM - Otis Reid Pulley, 90, of Durham, died Saturday, October 19, 2013 in Duke Regional Hospital. Mr. Pulley was born in Durham the son of the late James and Vergie Pulley. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. 
Otis was a veteran of the US Army and served in WWII. He also retired from American Tobacco Co. 
Surviving are his wife, Hilda Marie Britt Pulley; two sons, Ronald L. Thompson and wife, Mariam, and James R. Pulley; three grandchildren, Nicole Moreno and husband, Emilio, Molly Gilliam and Corey Pulley; and two great grandchildren, Nickolas Moreno and Christian Moreno.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday at Clements Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at Clements Funeral Home.

Anne Baskett Bailey
HENDERSON — Anne Baskett Bailey, 86, of 609 Spring Valley Road, Henderson, NC, died Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Maria Parham Medical Center.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Burroughs and Mary Wiggins Baskett. She was the widow of Emmett Norton Bailey.
Mrs. Bailey retired as a Secretary at Farmer’s Exchange in Durham, NC. After retirement, she was employed at Winn-Dixie Food Store in Henderson for approximately ten years. She was a member of Spring Valley United Methodist Church and the church choir. She was always an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves. She has always been a UNC Tarheel fan and raised her girls and grandsons to be Tarheels also.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 2 p.m., at Spring Valley United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Calvin Dickenson and Sherry Harrell. Burial will follow in the Baskett Family Cemetery.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Anne Bailey of the home and Sandra B. Ladd and husband, Roger, of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Betty B. Hicks of Advance, NC; two brothers, Eugene Baskett of Raleigh, NC and William Bartholomew of Oxford, NC; three grandsons, Jeffrey Wayne Ladd and wife, Stephanie, Michael Dean Ladd and wife, Kelly, and Kevin James Ladd and wife, Brooklyn; and one great granddaughter, Bailey Rae Ladd. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine B. Ashcraft and Lucille B. Buchanan; and a brother, Charlie Bryant Baskett.
The family will receive friends Monday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home, 609 Spring Valley Road, Henderson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Ladd, Michael Ladd, Kevin Ladd, Curtis Brame, Jerry Baskett, Rusty Renshaw, Tommy Farmer, and Tommy Buchanan.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Spring Valley United Methodist Church, c/o Sherry Harrell, 115 Ward Avenue, Oxford, NC  27565.

Norman Bryan Austin
KERNERSVILLE — Mr. Norman Bryan Austin, age 78, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Kerner Ridge Assisted Living. Norman was born February 20, 1935 in Durham Co. to Raymond Curtis and Annie Gates Austin. He loved his family and was an avid sports enthusiast. He was preceded in death by one sister, JoAnn Wilson.
Surviving are; his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Cheek Austin; four children, Reggie Austin (Robin), Tommy Austin (Anne), David Austin (Dawn) and Karen Gray (Kermit); seven grandchildren, Beth Hodges, Shannon Grubbs (Justin), Joshua Austin (Ashley), Whitney Idol (Alan), Andrew Gray (Anna), Seth Austin, and Lonnie Austin; six great grandchildren, and three brothers, Curtis, John and Frank Austin.
A Memorial Service will be conducted 5 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church Thursday, October 24, 2013 with Rev. Jason Murray officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Austin Family.
