Ethel Paulicia "Lisha" Douglas
DURHAM - Funeral service for Ethel Paulicia "Lisha" Douglas, 52, will be held Monday at 12 noon at First Calvary Baptist Church, 1311 Morehead Avenue. Public viewing and visitation will be from 11-12 noon.
Survivors: daughter, Shantae Douglas; son, Kenneth Douglas; father, Carl Bell Sr. (Terri); two granddaughters, Luvvey and Precious; aunt, Marie Ingram (Robert); devoted friend, Glynis Hall; godson, Tony Scott; nurse, Tamika Archie, several other relatives.

Pauline Horne
DURHAM - Beloved mother, daughter and sister, Pauline Horne, age 49, of Durham was called home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 24, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Paul Everett Horne and Sallie Evans Horne of Durham. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Bradley Horne; brother, Michael Horne; sisters, Antonia Perry Brodie, Gail Horne, Tawanda Horne and Shawanda Horne, all of Durham, N.C.
Funeral services will be held at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 1 p.m.

Peggy Elaine Johnson Tapp
DURHAM — Peggy Elaine Johnson Tapp, 69, of Durham, died Saturday, July 27, 2013, at her home. Mrs. Tapp was born in Alexandria, VA, to the late Lillie Mae Ellis Benton and Oscar David Johnson. She was a homemaker and wonderful mother who will be missed by her family.
Surviving are three daughters, Christy T. McDonald, Sherry T. Buchanan and husband, Waldo, and Lorrie T. Powell and husband, Melvin, all of Durham; a son, Harold David Allen Tapp of Carrboro; a sister, Joyce King of Rougemont; two brothers, Shelton Johnson of Henderson and David Glenn Johnson of Durham; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clements Funeral Chapel officiated by Pastor Jason Vernon. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Clements Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Joshua Williams, Ray Williams, Steven Connolly, Samuel Parker, Brian King, Mike Adams, Lee Davis and Grey Holloman.

Eileen Eaton Mickle
STEM — Eileen Eaton Mickle, 63, of Stem, NC, passed away Thursday, July 25th 2013 at her home.
Born in Richmond VA, Eileen was the daughter of Mary Frances Eaton of Durham, N.C. She was a dedicated church member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Eileen was a devoted wife and mother to her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Harold Mickle; her son, Scott Mickle, wife, Shannon, and grandson, Corbin of Charlotte, NC; son, Randy Mickle, wife, Abby and grandsons, Maddux and Beckett of Noblesville, IN. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Douglas Eaton.
Visitation will be at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor, NC Sunday July 28, 2013 from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. 
Funeral Service will be held at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Durham, NC at 2 p.m., Monday July 29, 2013 followed by a graveside service at South Granville Memorial Gardens, Stem, NC.
Pallbearers are Randy Mickle, Scott Mickle, Bill Corbin, Mike McDaniel, David Conley and Sean Conley. Honorary pallbearers include Billy Mickle, Joel Mickle and Josh Mickle.

Ilene Compton Woods
ROXBORO — Ilene Compton Woods, 69, of 1700 Turner St., died Friday, July 26, 2013.
Born in Mingo County, WV, Mrs. Woods was the daughter of the late Ira and Nora McGlothlin Compton. Mrs. Woods was a phlebotomist at Duke University Hospital.
A memorial service will be held in Delaware, OH at a later date.
Mrs. Woods is survived by her husband, John Henry Woods; three daughters, Nora Porter, of Delaware, OH, Peggy Cook, of Roxboro, and John H. Woods Jr., of Marion, OH; one sister, Dorothy Moseley, of Delaware, OH; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Sidney Leroy Carlton
DANVILLE, VA — Mr. Sidney Leroy Carlton of 72 Parrish Road, died Friday, July 26 at his daughter’s residence in Providence, NC.  He had been in declining heath for the past two years.
Mr. Carlton was born in Durham, NC on March 19, 1926, a son of the late Sidney F. Carlton and Florence Ellington Carlton.
Mr. Carlton was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Navy. He was terminal manager of McLean Trucking Company in Danville for 30 years. Mr. Carlton was a member of Tuscarora Country Club. He was married to the late Alice Gerline Carlton who died March 1, 2001. Besides his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his siblings, Julian Carlton, Leon Carlton, Vernon Carlton, Louellen Carlton Tilley, Deedie Furgurson and Veora Carlton Hoyle.
Surviving are his two daughters, Patricia Walker of Providence, NC and Linda W. Daniel of Pelham, NC. Also surviving are four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 2 p.m. from the Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Lee Cook, Pastor at Providence Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Townes Funeral Home one hour before the service on Monday and at other times will be at the residence of his daughter, Patricia Walker, 224 Hunters Lane, Providence, NC. The family requests that memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.
