Evelyn Ann Latta Ennis
DURHAM — Mrs. Evelyn Ann Latta Ennis, 58, of 3412 Redwood Road, died on Thursday, April 17, 2014.
Mrs. Ennis was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Leamond B. Latta Sr. and Evelyn Meeks Latta. She was a bus driver for the Durham Public Schools. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Durham.
She is survived by her husband, Dwight L. Ennis; son, Shane Ennis and wife, Michelle of Durham; daughter, Roxanne Nichols and husband, Daniel of Wake Forest; brother, Leamond Latta Jr. and wife, Kim of Franklinton; sister, Brenda Painter and husband, Mike of Hillsborough and grandchildren, Jon and Jennifer Ennis, Tamra and Daniella Nichols.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Genaves John Rigsbee will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Clarence J. Lyon, Sr.
DURHAM — On April 15, 2014, Mr. Clarence J. Lyon, Sr. passed at Croasdale Village surrounded by his loving family. Born in Granville County, he was the son of the late Herman H. Lyon and Lillie Harris Lyon. Surviving relatives include his devoted wife, Mildred Parker Lyon, four children, Clarence J. Lyon, II, Jacqueline L. Tatum, Sharon L. Amos and Lisa L. William.
A service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., at Beacon Light Missionary Baptist Church, 403 Cook Rd. Durham, NC 27713. Visitation period is one hour prior to the service.

Cheril (Faye) Faith Viars Pulliam
DURHAM — Cheril (Faye) Faith Viars Pulliam, 55, of Durham, NC, and formerly of Pearisburg, VA, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Mrs. Pulliam was born in Pearisburg, VA on November 11, 1958 and was a daughter of the late Julius L. and Wanda Rock Viars. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lillie Pyle Rock, her aunt, Hazel Rock, a sister, Anita Viars Lucas, and a brother, Randy Lee Viars.
She is survived by daughter Samantha Moretz Souto; son-in-law David Souto; grandsons Jonah and Jesse Souto of Hurdle Mills, NC; sisters Sandra (Cleve) Robertson of Pearisburg, VA, and Carrie (Larry) Spicer of Pembroke; brother Wayne Viars of Blacksburg, VA.

Teresa Ann Royster
DURHAM — Teresa Ann Royster, 55, departed this life on April 10, 2014.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, one sister, three brothers, one aunt, three uncles, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014, at St. Joseph AME Church at 2:00 pm. Visitation at 1:00 pm.

Mildred Elizabeth Laws Efland
EFLAND — Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Laws Efland, 95, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. She is a native of Orange County, NC and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Eunice Harris Laws. She was a longtime member of Efland Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her children, Kay Carroll, Marilyn Liner and husband David, Madison Efland and wife Phyllis, and Gail Wilkerson and husband Claiborn; 11 grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Elma Mebane. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Efland; granddaughter, Shelly Wilkerson Chandler; brother, Marvin Laws; and son-in-law, Lee Carroll.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Efland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Cheryl Henry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with her grandsons as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, April 18, 2014 at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane, and other times at the residence of the family. A special thank you is extended to her caregivers, Betty Glasgow, Linda Thorpe, Myra Jones, Laurie Hammond, Darlene Scott, and Jeweletta Clark. John Arthur Howard
October 4, 1919 – April 14, 2014
MORRISVILLE — John Arthur Howard, 94, of Morrisville, N.C. completed his soul’s Earthly journey on April 14, 2014, passing into God’s loving embrace. He has now joined his beloved wife, Kathryn Felkel Howard, who preceded him in death along with his dear son-in-law, Pete Bowling.
John was born in Marfa, Texas on October 4, 1919 to John Augustus Howard and Mary Will Howard and grew up in Endicott, N.Y. He was a naval veteran of WWII and had a 32-year career with IBM as an engineer which brought him to Durham, N.C. in 1965.
John is survived by his daughters, Linda Bowling of Morrisville and Theresa Elek of Cary; his 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Traci Miller and husband Sean, Todd Bowling and wife Alison, Jonathan Elek, David Elek and wife Jackie, and Rob Bowling; as well as his 4 great-grandchildren, Abby and Andi Judd, Sam Deery and Olivia Bowling.
A remembrance Mass will be held at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Apex on Saturday, April 26, at 10:30 a.m.

John Weldon Capps
CLARKSVILLE, Va. — John Weldon Capps, 88, husband of Julia Paschall Capps, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at MeadowView Terrace in Clarksville. He was born June 9, 1925 to the late Jessie Pennell and Mary Wynne Capps in Warren County, NC. John was retired from Burlington Industries where he had worked for 50 years. His last job assignment was Floor Leader in the Wet Finish Department. He was a member of Clarksville Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2pm in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Jane Lyon officiating. Interment will follow at Oakhurst Cemetery. In addition to his wife of 67 years, John is survived by his sisters, Lucille Richardson of Wilmington, NC, Elsie Wright of South Hill, Jean Whitmore of Coats, NC, and brothers, Norman Capps of Richmond and Dorsey Capps of Norlina, NC. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Charlotte Abbott and Effie Satterwhite, and brother, Carlton Capps.
