Velma Inez Gregory Jones
DURHAM — The Celebration of Life services of Mother Velma Inez Gregory Jones, age 96, will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Bell-Yeager Free Will Baptist Church, 128 East Cornwallis Road, Durham, North Carolina. Interment, Markham Memorial Gardens. A musical wake will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the church. The body will lie in repose at the church beginning at 1 p.m. on.
Mother Jones is survived by her daughter, Sandra F. Thompson (Paul), Durham, North Carolina; son, Reverend Vernon L. Jones of Atlanta, Georgia; a granddaughter she reared, Erica A. Jones; a great grandson she nurtured, Kameron D. Johnson, both of Durham, North Carolina; and a host of relatives and friends.

Harry James Mack
DURHAM — Mr. Harry James Mack (67) departed this life on September 16, 2013. His service will be conducted on Friday, September 20, 2013 at 12 a.m. The funeral will be at United for Christ Church, 1802 Angier Avenue, Durham, NC 27703. The family will meet with family and friends 30 minutes before the funeral service. Survivors are two brothers, Robert Mack, Richard Mack (Valinda); four sisters, Annie Smith (Nathan), Mamie Louise Smith, Ida Mack, Patricia Lawrence (Willie) and a host of family and friends. Phyllis Kay Spence
DURHAM — Mrs. Phyllis Kay Spence, 92, passed away under hospice care, Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC. She was born in Stafford County, KS to the late Burney Otto Kay and Lily Myrtle Sade Kay. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Spence. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Old Kent Bank as a Secretary.
Mrs. Spence is survived by her daughters, Cristie Morgan (Richard) of Durham, Andrea Blake (Richard) of Waxahachie, TX; son, William Spence (Rebecca) of Caldonia, MI; grandchildren, Kelly, Blair and Mitchell Spence, Whitney Blake Sanderlin and Adam Blake.
A graveside service will be held for the family in Grand Rapids at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to Duke Hospice, 4023 N. Roxboro Rd., Durham, NC 27704.

Felecia Gail Tate
DURHAM — Ms. Felecia Gail Tate, 56, of 215 William Penn Plaza #908, died Sept. 14 at Hock Family Pavilion.
Daughter of Mrs. June Carol Tate McAdoo (deceased), she is survived by two daughters, Tara and Colette Tate, both of Durham. She was preceded in death by her life-long companion, George Holt.
Ms. Felecia was employed with McDonalds Corp. and McDonalds.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 20th at 2 p.m. at Johnson Chapel AME Church in Mebane, NC. Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Public viewing will be today from 1 to 9 p.m. at Sharpe Funeral Home. At other times the family will receive visitors at the home of her sister Carol McAdoo at 4222 Fuller Rd., Efland.
Burial will be held in Mebane First Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Anne Yarborough Clayton
ROXBORO — Anne Yarborough Clayton, age 85, of Ridge Road died Wednesday morning, September 18, 2013 at her home. She was born in Person County to the late Willie Johnson Yarborough and Ada Ashley Yarborough. Mrs. Clayton was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Elgie "Gandy" Clayton.
She was a member of Roxboro Baptist Church; retired from Peoples Bank with 21 years of employment; and was a Red Cross Volunteer for 10 years. Anne enjoyed golfing and playing bridge.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Joey Cozart of Roxboro; her granddaughter and fiancé, Ashley Blalock and Tim Bass of Raleigh; and her sister, Hazeline Hamlet of Roxboro.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at her home, 403 Ridge Road.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2013, at Roxboro Baptist Church with the Dr. DuPre Sanders officiating. A private burial will be held in Burchwood Cemetery.

James Edward Daye
TIMBERLAKE — James Edward Daye, 88, son of the late Purvis and Dulcy Clemons Daye Sr. died Tuesday.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday in Obies Chapel Holy Church. Family visitation one hour prior to the funeral in the church, 12 until 1 p.m. Burial in the church cemetery.
Survivors are his devoted wife of 66 years, Inez Holeman Daye; sons, James Earl Daye and Lee Andrew Daye; daughters, Shirley Jenkins, Mary Daye, Geraldine McAdoo and Bernice Patterson; daughters and sons in-law; eight grand children; four great grand children; three brothers; and five sisters.

Clarice Jane Clayton Moore
TIMBERLAKE - Clarice Jane Clayton Moore, of Timberlake, age 96, died Wednesday September 18, 2013 at her home. Born in Person County of the late Thomas and Laura Clayton. She was a die hard UNC fan and NY Yankees fan. She attended Surl Primitive Baptist Church.
Clarice is preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Elvin Moore; and one brother, Harold Clayton. She is survived by one son, Thomas Moore and wife, Donna, of Roxboro; two grandchildren, Nicole Moore and husband, Kyle, and Laura Moore and fiancé, Chan Harrison; two sisters-in-law, Eva Long Clayton and Marie M. Oakley.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Brooks and White Chapel with the Elder David Minter officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles Townsend, Ronnie Roberts, Pete Thomas, Larry Oakley, Snowball Clayton and Buck Kirk.
