David Brian McCullock
CEDAR GROVE — On Saturday evening, June 7, 2014, David Brian McCullock passed away at Duke University Medical Center after a sudden illness. He is the only son of four children born to Bobby and Anita Willoughby McCullock.
David grew up in Cedar Grove, North Carolina, and attended Orange High School, graduating in 1980. He attended Piedmont Community College from 1980-81. David had been employed earlier at Durham Regional Hospital and later retired from Lowes Home Improvement.
David was an avid farmer, loving the outdoors and raising his two beautiful daughters, Katie Alyson McCullock and Madison Graye McCullock. He had an avid love for motorcycles and would often engage you in lengthy conversations about Harleys.
David will always be remembered as a hard worker and a people lover. People often said David would give you the shirt off of his back. During these recent years, David developed an interest in birds and flowers and spent much time cultivating his gardens.
After recovering from a nearly fatal motorcycle accident in 2011, David’s passion was to build a home in the country so he and his children could be together. David was able to realize this dream and built a beautiful home where he and Madison resided until he was called to his heavenly home.
David is survived by his daughters, Katie Alyson McCullock of Hillsborough, North Carolina, and Madison Graye McCullock of Hurdle Mills, North Carolina. He is also survived by his sisters, Patti McCullock of Mebane, North Carolina, Mary Kennedy (Russell) of Hillsborough, North Carolina and Carol Carden (Dennis) of Caldwell, North Carolina; a host of nieces and a nephew and a special friend, Delaine Bradley.
Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetic Association, 7721 Six Forks Rd., #136, Raleigh, NC 27615 in the hope of curing this horrible disease.
A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at Walnut Grove Methodist Church, Walnut Grove Church Road, Hurdle Mills, North Carolina. The family will receive visitors at other times at the home of Katie McCullock, Hillsborough, North Carolina.
The family is being assisted by Clements Funeral Service, Inc., in Durham, N.C. Online condolences may be made at www.clementsfuneralservice.com.
