Beverly Lewis Gunter
DURHAM — Mr. Beverly Lewis Gunter, 74, died Wednesday afternoon at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC.
Mr. Gunter was born and raised in Durham. He attended the Durham County Schools, Wingate University and Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College). For many years, Lewis was self-employed. He lived in Durham and Orange County his entire life. He was well-known and will be missed dearly.
Mr. Gunter is survived by his brother, Frank Gunter, Jr., and his wife, Libby, of Clayton, NC; niece, Blair Gunter Rice, and her husband, Kirkland, of Holly Springs, NC; and his nephew, Frank Gunter, III, and his wife, Barbara, of Pittsboro, NC.
There will be a reception for Lewis on Sunday, June 22, 2014, from 3:00 – 5:00 at the Howerton & Bryan Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Jessie L. McClain
DURHAM — Jessie L. McClain, age 73, passed at Duke Regional Hospital on Sunday, June 15, 2014. She was born in Badin, NC to Westley and Lanie Bailey McPhail.
Surviving are sons Russell (Tanya), Booker T. Jr. (Delores) and Bernard (Helaine) McClain; daughters Sylvia McClain and Marion Piper; brothers Paul (Johnnie) and Willie McPhail; sisters Zerline Turner, Eula M. Lewis, Mae Frances McPhail, Vera Mitchell; and brother-in-law Levell (Martha) McClain.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon, Friday, June 20, 2014 at Mt. Level Baptist Church, 316 Hebron Road Durham, NC 27704. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. til 12 noon prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Beechwood Cemetery. Linda Ray Teston
DURHAM — Mrs. Linda Ray Teston, 71, of 3116 Nantucket Ave., died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 17, 2014.
Mrs. Teston was a native resident of Durham, the daughter of the late James T. Ray Sr. and Henrietta Hatfield Ray. She was formerly employed with Upton’s Department Store as a clerk. She loved gardening, shopping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Lester Teston, Jr.; son, Michael D. Teston of Buffalo, NY; daughter, Michelle Hickman of Durham; six grandchildren, Brandon W. Hickman, Sean C. Conway, Heather Hickman, Cassandra Conway, Jessica T. Johnson and Michael B. Teston; great-grandson, Colton Johnson; four brothers, James T. Ray Jr. of Raleigh, Brad Ray of Hillsborough, Timothy Ray of Burgaw and Kenneth Ray of Durham; brother-in-law, Joseph Teston; sister-in law, Joyce Teston; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Hugh O’Shields. Burial will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Sean Conway, Tyler Johnson, Brandon Hickman, Michael Teston, Rick Hickman and Zack Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Teston, Richard Ott and Bob Lee.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Michelle Hickman, 1420 Goodwin Road. Anne Calloway Robertson Reed
CHAPEL HILL — Anne Calloway Robertson Reed, 92, passed away on Thursday, June 19, at Carolina Meadows Retirement Community in Chapel Hill, following a lengthy illness.
She was born November 15, 1921, in Danville, Virginia, the daughter of the Reverend John Calloway Robertson and Mary Lou Pitt Robertson.
She attended Randolph-Macon Womens College in Lynchburg, Virginia.
She was married to Lt. Col. William W. Reed, Jr., and following his retirement from the United States Army resided in Fayetteville, NC, where she owned and operated a needlecraft business, The Needle Nook.
Following her retirement in 1992, she moved with her husband to Carolina Meadows.
She attended Christ United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William W. Reed, Jr., and a sister, Elise Goldman.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Reed Davis and her husband William R. Davis, of Raleigh; her son, William W. Reed III and his wife, Jean Stansberry Reed, of Durham; one grandson, Eric Reed Davis and his wife, Elizabeth Thompson Davis; and two great-grandchildren, Winston Davis and Anna-Scott Davis.
The family wishes to express appreciation to those who cared for her at the Carolina Meadows Health Center. A memorial service will be held at Carolina Meadows on Wednesday, June 25, at 2:00 PM.

Bobby Joseph Yarboro
HILLSBOROUGH — Bobby Joseph Yarboro, 50, beloved son, father, brother and uncle. He left us here on earth to be with our Lord in heaven on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. He was born in Person County, but was a lifelong resident of Hillsborough, NC.
He was predeceased by his father Joseph O. Yarboro. He is survived by his lifelong partner Tammie, son Joseph Yarboro of Hillsborough, stepson Sandy Scott Ellis (Kristen) of Bahama. Also his mother Lucy T. Yarboro of Hillsborough, 3 sisters Peggy Talbert, Joann Fowler and Tammy Harkinson of Hillsborough, one granddaughter Leah Ellis.
He was a graduate of Orange High School in 1984. He also had worked for Dehavens, Walmart, and Pike Electric. We will forever cherish your love for life, your happy-go-lucky caring soul, who never met a stranger. Your smiling face who loved family and friends.
Funeral services will be on Sunday, June 22, at 3pm at Walker's Funeral Home Chapel in Hillsborough. Visitation is from 1 to 2:45pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Hillsborough.

Martha Day Watson
ROXBORO — Martha Day Watson, 85, of 1597 Red Oak Dr., Roxboro, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Born in Person County, she was the daughter of the late Chuck & Lonie Yarbrough Day and wife of the late Alfred Watson. Mrs. Watson was retired from Collins & Aikman, and was also a home healthcare giver. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.
Mrs. Watson is survived by her two children, Deborah Blalock and husband Mark, of Timberlake, and Barry Len Watson, of Roxboro; her half-sister, Betty Ankenman, of Newport News, VA; three grandchildren, Crystal Rose and husband David, of Clarksville, VA, Tasha Blalock, of Creedmoor, NC, and Nick Bradshaw, of Bakersville, NC; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob & Olivia Rose, of Clarksville, VA.
Visitation will be held 6:30-8:00 PM Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Brooks & White Funeral Home. The family will receive friends other times at the home of the daughter, 275 Antioch Acres Dr., Timberlake, NC 27583.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 20, 2014, at Westwood Baptist Church, by the Rev. Gerald Hodges and the Rev. Jonathan Taylor.
Burial will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Keith Dodson, Howard Shoe, David Shoe, Ricky Lockhart, Garland DeHoog, Gary Shoe, Chad Wrenn, and Nick Bradshaw.
