Tara Ann Butler Adcox
DURHAM - Tara Ann Butler Adcox, 39, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Duke University Hospital. She was born in Durham Co to Donna Fulkerson and the late Ray Franklin Butler. She was employed by Hospice as a CNA.
In addition to her mother and step-father, Bo Fulkerson, Tara is survived by her husband, Charles Adcox Jr.; sisters, Brandy White (Josh), Angela Porter; son, Kenneth Pearce III; daughter, Jessica Pearce; step-brother, Jeremy Fulkerson; uncle, Michael Butler; three aunts, three nieces and a nephew.

Aarona Stewart Daye
DURHAM - Ms. Aarona Stewart Daye was born October 21, 1956 in Durham, NC to the late James and Lois Stewart.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 30, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Ellis D. Jones & Sons Chapel. The family will receive friends an hour before the service.
She is survived by her children, Nakkia Daye and Aaron Daye, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

James A. Fowler
DURHAM — Mr. James A. Fowler, 88, died Tuesday evening, August 27, 2013 at his home. He was born in Durham Co to the late James Fowler and Mabel Ruth Weatherspoon Fowler. He was also predeceased by his wife, Lois Harris Fowler; and son, Larry Lee Fowler.
Mr. Fowler lived most of his life in the Oak Grove community. He served in the Army during WWII in the European Theater and was in the Battle of the Bulge. After 40 years of service, he retired in 1984 from the American Tobacco Company as a Fixer. He was a faithful member of Smith Chapel Independent Baptist Church where he served as choir leader, teacher, and deacon for many years, winning many souls to the Lord and was a friend to everyone.
Mr. Fowler is survived by his daughter, Brenda Ruth Williams and husband, Tommy of Durham; sisters, Shirley Dixon and husband, Homer of Creedmoor, Louise Fletcher of Durham, Betty Jean Hatley and husband, Jimmy of Durham; brothers, Louis Fowler and wife, Susan of Pittsboro, Wallace Fowler and wife, Joyce of Durham, and William “Bird” Fowler of Durham.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 2 p.m. at Smith Chapel Independent Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry L. Hooper officiating.  Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the church.

Douglas L. Hall Sr.
DURHAM — Mr. Douglas L. Hall Sr., 86, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Hock Family Pavilion. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rick Hall; brothers, Fred Hall and Billy Hall. Mr. Hall was a WWII Veteran serving in the US Navy. He was a self-employed flooring contractor and retired from The City of Durham as a housing inspector. He was also a renowned modified fast pitch softball pitcher.
He is survived by his daughters, Susen Darst (Glenn), Karen Crabtree (Steve); sons, Douglas Hall Jr. (Cindy), Randy Hall (Melissa); brother, Alvin Hartgrove (Phyllis), a sister-in-law, Ruth Anne Hall; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Thursday 12 p.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at Clements Funeral Home in Durham and other times at the home of Doug Jr. at 7417 Ball Rd., Bahama, NC 27503.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Myrtice Chavis his care giver and Kelly Bennett his nurse, for their loving care during his illness.

Carl W. Richardson Sr.
DURHAM — Carl W. Richardson Sr., 61, departed his life on August 25, 2013.
He leaves behind his wife, Carolyn Richardson; two sons, two grandchildren, four sisters and two brothers.
Services will be held at Orange Grove Baptist Church, Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 1 p.m. with visitation at 12 noon.

Eva Belle Jacobs
HILLSBOROUGH - Eva Belle Jacobs, 53, died on Monday, August 26, 2013, at Duke University Med. Center in Durham, NC.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday in Chavis-Parker Funeral Chapel. Family visitation: 12:30 until 1 p.m.
Surviving are son, Brandon Jacobs; daughter, Christine Jacobs of Mebane, NC.; sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in Quality Cremations, Inc., Durham, NC.

John E. Wright
HILLSBOROUGH — John E. Wright, 95, of Hillsborough, NC, died on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Veterans Admin. Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. He was born December 18, 1917 in Philadelphia, PA.
The funeral will be conducted 1:30 p.m. in Mt. Bright Baptist Church and a 1 p.m. visitation.
Survivors are a loving and caring companion, Lavorne Pratt-Walker; a nephew, Dr. Fitzharold Cathcart; three nieces, Debra, Maria and Narvia; two aunts, Mrs. Ruth Hillard and Mrs. Frances Wright; and cousin, William Clarence Robinson.
Interment will be in Hillsborough Town Cemetery. Public viewing: Friday 11 a.m. in Chavis-Parker Funeral Home.

Jessie Mae Powell Clayton Piner
ROXBORO — Jessie Mae Powell Clayton Piner, 89, of 4843 Leasburg Rd, Roxboro, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013. Born in Person County, Mrs. Piner was the daughter of the late Locket and Mable Clayton Powell. Jessie Mae loved her family. She worked in the country store near Roxboro for about 20 years, retired from Efland Hosiery in 1989 after 25 years, and later worked at the Buckhorn Flea Market for 30 years. Her hobbies were flowers, reading, and gardening. She was a joyful person who loved life. 
Mrs. Piner is survived by three children, Mr. Beverly Thomas Clayton and wife, Judy of Huntersville, Harry Reginald Clayton and wife, Linda, and Peggy Clayton Oakley and husband Bobby, both of Roxboro; her brother, George Powell, of Roxboro; three sisters, Betty Smith, of Mebane, Carrie Lee Shotwell, of Roxboro and Fay Pope, of Cedar Grove; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The service celebrating the life of Jessie Mae will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Gerald Thomas, Mr. Beverly Clayton, and the Father Tim Clayton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 
Visitation will be held following the service and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy & Bobby Oakley, 4843 Leasburg Road, Roxboro, NC 27574.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
