Juanita Lawson Clayton
DURHAM - Juanita Lawson Clayton, 88, of Durham, died Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Hock Family Pavilion.
Mrs. Clayton was born in Durham to the late Ralph Clifton Lawson and Libbie Jane Day Lawson. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Maynard Clayton; and a son, David Clayton Jr.
Surviving are a daughter, Kim Munson and husband, Rodney; a son, Ralph Clayton; an adopted son, Stephen Prye; four grandchildren, Matt Clayton and wife, Ashli, Shelley Clayton and Jamie Steele and husband, Micah; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Friar; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 27th 2013 at Parkview Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Ernest Ferrell. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Clements Funeral Home.

Joan Parrish Earp
DURHAM — Joan Parrish Earp, 75, died Saturday, August 24, 2013.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, George 'Jack' Earp; her sons, Jack Adam Earp and Christopher Chad Earp; grandson, Christopher Michael Earp; her parents, Alton Troy Parrish and Mary Oliver Parrish; sister, Mary Elizabeth Parrish Smith; brothers, Alton Armous 'Buck' Parrish and Jesse Calvin 'Pookie' Parrish.
She is survived by her sons, Wyatt Earp and his wife, Mary (Wright), of Roanoke Rapids, and Bret Anthony Earp of Durham; grandson, Christopher Chad Earp Jr.; and granddaughter, Jessica Jane 'Jessi' Earp; brother, Thomas Hudson 'Tommy' Parrish and his wife, Wanda (Bozeman), of Oak Island, NC; nephews, Joe Parrish, Troy Parrish, Buck Parrish and Kim Parrish; nieces, Mary Parrish, Dr. Rosalie Parrish, Crystal Smith and Sarah Parrish.
The family will plan and notify extended family and friends of a memorial gathering at a later date.

Russell Dossett Goodwin
DURHAM — Mr. Russell Dossett Goodwin, 87, of Durham, died on Saturday, August 24, 2013. He was the son of the late Freeland Goodwin and Viola Goodwin. He served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Sperry Rand after 30 years as an Engineer. He was a member of Gorman Baptist Church and Dowd Thornton Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife, Fannie Mae Goodwin; one son, Michael K. Goodwin (Teresa); one grandson, Keith Goodwin; two sisters-in-law, Frances Goodwin and Betty Jo Boothe; one brother-in-law, J.D. Boothe, several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Dr. C.J. Bordeaux will officiate.

Keith Thompson
MEBANE — Keith Thompson, 55, of 9190 South NC 87 HWY, Graham, passed away at his home on August 24, 2013.
Keith was a loving husband, father and pawpaw. He was employed with Claude M. May for 20 years and Dan Addison Design for 10 years.
He leaves behind his best friend, Patsy Thompson, wife of 38 years; children, Jamie Thompson (Chuck) and Adam Thompson (Brandi); grandchildren, Allison Thompson, Madison Sheets and James Sheets; mother, Helen Kenion; nephew, Jay Thompson; brother, Kelly Thompson; sister, Angela Wilkins; and his mother-in-law, Katherine Golsson.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Thompson; and brothers, Ronnie and Donnie Thompson.
There will be no formal services. The family invites you to stop by the home and visit with them as time allows you.

Wayne Stephenson
CHAPEL HILL — Wayne Stephenson, 46 passed away Saturday, August 24 after a courageous battle with cancer. Wayne is survived by his mother, June Barbour Johnson and her husband, Jerry, of Aulander, NC; two brothers, Michael Paul Stephenson of Creedmoor, NC and Jerry Johnson Jr. and his wife, Benya, of Wilkesboro, NC; two sisters, Tracy Herman, and her three children, Jessica, Hunter, and Marly and Shelly Erdner, and her husband, Daniel, and their three children, Gabe, Christian and Jude both of Timberlake, NC; a grandmother, Coleen Barbour of Durham, NC; and grandparents, Clifford and Dorothy Stephenson of Smithfield, NC. 
Wayne had five uncles, Barry Barbour and his wife, Kathy, of Efland, NC, Larry Barbour of Greenville, NC, Howard Barbour and his wife, Brenda, of Durham, NC, Ronnie Wall and his wife, Sherry, of Cedar Grove, NC, and Walker Johnson and his wife, Kay, of Raleigh, NC; and two aunts, Beverly Gregory and her husband, Kenny, of Thomasville, NC, and Rita Johnson of Raleigh, NC. He is survived by many cousins, Richard Barbour and his wife, Carie, their two children, Lawson and Dane; Brad Barbour and his wife, Bree, and their two children, Blake and Lily; Tiffany Wall, Erin Wall, Brian Johnson and family, Tim Johnson and family, Ricky Cranford and family and Molly Alston and family. 
Wayne attended Western Carolina University, Oklahoma University and UNC-Chapel Hill. He worked for 17 years as manager of Human Resources, Promotions and Purchasing at the Student Store on the UNC campus. 
Wayne was a devout Christian who was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Durham, NC. He was kind, loving and giving. He had an ear to listen, a gentle hand to help and loving heart to care being involved in the lives of others. 
Wayne displayed his love for others in his faithful involvement with the UNC wrestling team over many years. He was a mentor to many of these student athletes as he tried to help them in academics and in their life choices. He photographed many of the wrestling team tournaments, home and away. His love for this team over the years produced life-long friendships.
Funeral at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Durham, NC on Wednesday, August 28, at 11 by the Rev. Earl Echols. Interment will follow in the Maplewoods Cemetery. 
Pallbearers will be: Keenan Duffie, Alex Maciag, Kyle Kiss, Mike Rappo, Robert McCarthy, Daniel Llamas, Nick Heilmann.  Honorary pallbearers will be the UNC Wrestling Team.
Flowers are acceptable or memorial contribution may be made to UNC Hospice or UNC Wrestling Team.
