Roderick “Duke” Fenner

DURHAM — Mr. Roderick “Duke” Fenner was born August 22, 1956; he passed away May 28, 2013.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Birchwood Heights Community Center, 416 Walston St. Durham, NC 27703.

Charles R (Reggie) Hayes

DURHAM — Reggie Hayes, 65, passed away August 8, 2013.

He resided in Durham, originally from Tampa. He is survived by son, Charlie Hayes; daughter, Kari Borley; sister, Ruthie Diaz. Service will be at Sarah Duke Gardens, today, Aug. 18, from 2 to 4.

 

Mary Walker Oakley

DURHAM – Mary Walker Oakley, of Durham, passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 at Hock Family Pavilion.  Born in Person County, Mrs. Walker was the daughter of the late Jonah Walker and Annie Mae Hawkins Walker.  Mrs. Walker was a former Exchange Club supervisor.

Mrs. Walker is survived by her husband, Willie Everette Oakley Jr.; two daughters, Penny Marie Stone and husband Mike, Tammy Tarlton and husband Bobby; two sons, Keith Douglas Oakley and wife Dayle, and Donald Wayne Oakley and wife Gail; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a very devoted nephew, Ken McCormack; numerous nieces and nephews; in-laws; and her church family.

A memorial service will be conducted 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Clements Funeral Chapel, Durham, with Rev. Ray McCormack and Rev. Jack Moody officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Duke Homecare and Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Dr., Durham, NC 27704 or to Lawrence Road Baptist Church, 1901 Lawrence Road, Hillsborough, NC 27278.

ROUGEMONT — Robert William Garner III, 65, died August 12, 2013

Cheryl Ann Wygal

CARY — Cheryl Ann Wygal, 49, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 9, 1963 to Daniel Jacob Meder and Pauline Emma Menzel Meder in Brooklyn, NY. Cheryl was a graduate of Mt. St. Mary’s College in Newburgh, NY, she worked as a registered nurse at Duke Hospital in Durham and Healthway Services in Moorseville. She was a member of Holy Infant Catholic Church in Durham.

She is survived by: her husband, of 21 years, Robert Allan Wygal of Cary; three sons, Justin, Kyle and Joshua Wygal, all of Cary; her parents, Daniel Jacob Meder and Pauline Emma Menzel Meder of Long Island, NY; a sister, Debbie Meder of Long Island, NY; a niece, Ashley Marinello of Long Island, NY; a sister-in-law, Jennifer Wygal of Raleigh; a brother-in-law, Timothy Wygal of Raleigh.

The family will be present to receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main St., Durham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m Tuesday at Holy Infant Catholic Church, 5000 Southpark Dr., Durham. Burial will be in Wake Memorial Park, Cary.
