Willie Frank ‘J.R.’ Faison
DURHAM — Willie Frank ‘J.R.’ Faison, son of the late Frank Faison, Jr. and Annie Grace Faison was born on March 11, 1944. He had one sister, Cora Louise Scott, who preceded him in death. After a brief illness, he departed this life on March 19, 2014 at Duke Hospital.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 1 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 2508 Crest Street, Durham, NC.
Professional services are provided by Scarborough and Hargett Memorial Chapel and Gardens.

Alan Ambrose Forthofer
DURHAM — Alan Ambrose Forthofer, 84, died Friday, March 21, 2014 in Florida. Born May 28, 1929 to Elmer and Lucille Dechant Forthofer. Alan lived most of his life in Ohio where he was a farmer. Alan moved to Durham in 1984 where he worked many years as a heavy equipment mechanic for Dennis Equipment and at Duke Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, two sisters and a grandson.
Surviving are: six sons, Peter (Barbara) of Fayetteville, Guy of OH, Glenn (Lizz) of IL, Rocky (Monica) of AZ, Bruce (Madonna) of MO, Fred (Kim) of Clayton; eight daughters, Joyce (Robert) Fagin of OH, Julie (David) Diehl of OH, Joan (Tim) Wren of AZ, Karen (Michael) Denchik of OH, Mary (Glen) Tomes of OH, Lenore Bridges of Durham, Carla (John) Sattler of IL, Rita (Frank) Baratta of FL, two brothers, Carl (Lucia) of FL and David of SC; a sister, Eileen (Edwin) Beriswell of FL; 34 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will be present 6-8 pm Thursday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main St., Durham. Alan’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12 pm Friday at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1001 Mason Rd., Durham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Joshua Robert Helm
DURHAM —It is with great sadness we announce the untimely passing of Joshua Robert Helm. Though his years with us has been tragically cut short, we will cherish how Josh changed our lives forever. Josh Helm, beloved son of John and Vicki Helm, died suddenly Sunday, March 23, 2014.
Josh was born and raised in Durham. He was a graduate of Northern High School was enrolled at UNC-Charlotte. While at Northern, Josh was involved with the National Honor Society, and a member of the Varsity baseball team.
In addition to his parents, Joshua is survived by his brother, Cody Helm; stepsister, Delores Shaw; his girlfriend Michelle Harmon, and her family, Uncles, Richard F. (Adrienne) Helm, Bob (Robbi) Feinberg; Aunts, Delores Shaw; Bobbie (Brian) Kelleher, Susan (Clay) Emerick, Jill Wurcel, Deb (Deborah Renner) Feinberg, Caryn Feinberg, and Amy Sheppard (Tony Frontera). Josh is also survived by his many cousins, Brian (Susan) Helm, Benjamin Helm (Mark Jones), Katherine (Garion) Roberts, Alison Helm, Elizabeth (Brian) Orsetti, Bridget (Ryan) Latta, Bevin (Michael) Hileman, Stacey Emerick, Sara Emerick, Michael Shaw, Alysse (Matt) Bevers, Brian (Nina) Wurcel, Julie (Mario) Mena, Emily (Bryan) Sell, Josie (Elliott) Nathanson, Lydia Feinberg, Jessa Feinberg, Deanna Feinberg, Michael Sheppard, Brianna Sheppard, and Kyle Sheppard; as well as numerous coaches and friends who will not be forgotten.
Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Helm, George and Janet Shaw, Joyce and Phillip Feinberg; uncle, John Shaw; cousin, Tyler Emerick.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, at 11:00 am in the Judea Reform Congregation Cemetery, 2560 Jones Ferry Rd. Chapel Hill NC 27516. Officiating will be Rabbi John Friedman.

Hilda Poole Ladd
DURHAM — Hilda Poole Ladd, born in Durham, NC September 5, 1930 passed into heaven on March 21, 2014 surrounded by her loved ones. She leaves a large, loving family, daughters, Debbie Salomone of Tempe, AZ, Paula Ladd Mann (husband, Richard Mann) of Roxboro, NC, Betty Ladd Swan (husband, Zack Swan) of Southfield, MI and Maggie Ladd (husband, Bill Weishaar) of Johns Creek, GA.
Grandchildren, Michael Goff, Michele Stewart, Clarise Moody, Zackary Swan, Luke Swan, Moriah Swan and Seth Weishaar. Great grandchildren, Shane Wilson, Trey Stewart, Greyson Stewart and Braeden Stewart. Sisters, Alma "Scrumpy"
Poole Stalls, Patricia Poole Russell, and Karen Poole Kerrick. She was predeceased by her Father, John Lee Poole, and her Mother, Mildred Schofield Poole, Sister, Kathleen Poole Taylor, and Brothers, John Rufus Poole, James Lee Poole, George Russell Poole, Philip Lee Poole and Thomas Milton Poole.
Hilda was born and raised in Rougemont and graduated from Bragtown High School in 1948. She was offered a scholarship to study opera but decided that her calling was to be a nurse. Even though she didn't pursue an opera career, she served as choir director and sang many solos. She sang like an angel. Hilda studied at Lees-McRae College and graduated as a Registered Nurse, later going back to school to become a Certified Nurse Practitioner.
She worked at Person Memorial Hospital and later owned and operated Maple Heights Rest Home in Roxboro, NC. She moved to Arizona in 1971. She was the School Nurse Superintendent in Nogales in the early 70's and then practiced at Tucson School District Number 1 for 20 years. Hilda loved her career and her students.
In 2010, Hilda moved back to North Carolina to be closer to her roots. She was so happy to be back "home". Hilda was greatly loved and will be missed by many. May God hold her in the palm of his hand.
Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Brooks and White Chapel by Dr. M David Chambers. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, one hour prior to the service.

Lucas Junior Rigsbee
DURHAM — Mr. Lucas Junior Rigsbee, 60, of Durham died on Sunday, March 23, 2014. He was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Otis Rigsbee and Odell Pearce Rigsbee. He was of the Baptist Faith, a loving husband, father, Papa and friend. Heaven gained another angel who went fishing in the big sky.
He is survived by his loving wife, best friend and best bud of 22 years, Bobbi Rigsbee, he adored his children and grandchildren, four sons, Terry (Mildred), Jerry (Amy), Rob (Sara) and Michael. Seven daughters, Chrystal (Jesse), (Head Dogg), Melissa (Sanchez), Devin (Maurice), Ashley (Derrick), Sierra (Jon), Carrie (Monte) and Amber “Hamhock”, five sisters and one brother, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, eighteen grandchildren, Tray, Chris, Desi, Trey, Jada, T.T., Jazz, Savannah, Ari, Brat, Deijah, Jo Jo, MJ, Bri, Joe, Nate, Taylor and Adarius.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at Hudson Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Donnie Cash and Rev. Johnny Hewitt will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 2812 Beck Rd. Pauline Stein Schultz
DURHAM — Pauline Stein Schultz, 90, died on March 20, 2014.
Mrs. Schultz was born in Germany. Her husband of 63 years, Norman Charles Schultz, preceded her in death in 2009. Mrs. Schultz was a member of Beth-El Synagogue. She was known throughout the Triangle for her boundless energy and spirit, and she shared the joy she had for life with everyone she met.
She is survived by her two sons, Howard S. Schultz, and his wife, Lynda, of Chapel Hill, NC, Robert J. Schultz of Durham, NC; grandson, Joshua D. Schultz of Chapel Hill, NC; sister, Esther Rose of Raleigh, NC; as well as many, many relatives and friends.
A graveside service was held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Durham Hebrew Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Daniel Greyber.

David Linden Hall, Sr.

CHAPEL HILL — David Linden Hall, Sr., 76, died Sunday, March 23. He was born in Orange County and attended the Orange County schools. He served in the National Guard. He worked for the Hall Brothers who provided the stone for the first South Duke Hospital. He also worked for Wilkerson Grading and retired from the City of Chapel Hill.
Surviving are four daughters: Lisa Hall, Hillsborough, Karen H. Beneville (Danny), Efland, Cathy H. Wilkerson (Rocky), Hurdle Mills, and Lin Hall, (Claudia), Hillsborough; three sisters: Dorothy H. Holloway (Bill), Hillsborough, Betsy Ann Tilley (Wayne), Hillsborough, and Mary Eleanor Copeland (Ed), Mebane; six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Eleanor and Leroy Hall, Sr., three brothers: Leroy, Jr., Warren, and Robert Hall.

Mozelle Johnson Markham

HENDERSON — Mozelle Johnson Markham, 81, of Henderson went to be with Jesus Christ on March 20, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the New Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Henderson.
