Kimley Yvette Bell
DURHAM - Kimley Yvette Bell, 52, departed her life on November 2, 2013 at Duke Medical Center. She leaves behind her dear parents James K. and Carolina Bell; two sisters and one brother.
Funeral service will be held at Saint John's Missionary Baptist Church on Thursday at 1:00 pm and viewing at 12 noon.

Mr. Donald D. France
DURHAM - Mr. Donald D. France, 79, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Duke Regional Hospital. Don was born on February 1, 1934, in Bryn Mawr Hospital in greater Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Delbert W. France and the late Alexandra Drougge France.
Don was a 1952 graduate of East Stroudsburg High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business at Penn State University in 1956. He began his work career at IBM; afterwards, he worked at Hyco, DynaColor, 3M, and Colorcraft Corporation which became Qualex. At Colorcraft, he was Executive VP of Sales and Marketing. After his retirement, he became president of Photo Market Makers in Durham. Don was a lifelong sports enthusiast and Iron Duke. He was an avid fisherman, traveler, photographer, stamp collector, American Civil War aficionado and voracious reader. He was, for a time, president of the North Carolina Civil War Roundtable. In full retirement, he was a birder and derived great pleasure from nature.
Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Shaffer France of Saxapahaw; his daughter Victoria Bonnet France Stavish and her husband Michael Stavish of New Britain, Pennsylvania; Dr. Linda Gail France Stine and her husband Dr. Roy S. Stine of Liberty; Dr. Erik Donald France of Fort Worth, Texas; Jamie France and his wife Suzanne Girard France of Cary; sister Denise I. France DeVivo and her husband John F. DeVivo of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; sister Gail R. France Stine of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law Linda E. Kresge of Tannersville, Pennyslvania; sister-in-law Josephine Shaffer of Fort Collins, Colorado; grandchildren Noah M. Stavish and Sophia C. France; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by a sister, Susan Victoria France Vinyard.
A memorial service will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at Union Grove United Methodist Church, 9903 N. Roxboro Rd. across from Black Horse Run, Bahama, with the Rev. Cheryl Lawrence officiating.

Sara “Evelyn” M. Griggs
DURHAM -- Sara “Evelyn” M. Griggs died Oct. 30, 2013, at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.
She is survived by her daughter, Lucritia Renee Griggs of Durham; two brothers, Willie Walter Meads of Alabama, and Harold Mayhis Meads of Alabama, and three sisters, Marilyn Hines of Alabama, Thelma Louise Tyler of Durham, and Carol J. Heider of Durham. She also has three special friends, Jack Ellis of Bahama, Jim Rorie of Durham, and Norma Jean Walters of Alabama.

Mrs. Virginia R. Hill
DURHAM — Mrs. Virginia R. Hill, 78, died Sunday, November 3, 2013. She was born in Granville Co. to the late Sidney B. Russell and the late Gladys Mae Faulkner Russell. She was also predeceased by a sister, Doris Rau, and brothers, James and Sidney Russell. Mrs. Hill was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was a retired hairdresser.
She is survived by her husband, R. Lewis Hill; daughter, Ava Jackson; son, Dale Hill and wife, Debi; grandchildren, Ashley Jackson and boyfriend, Phil Chubb, Christy Fleming and husband T.J., Jarrod Hill; brothers, Luther Russell, George Russell and John Russell.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Hager officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.

Hilda Britt Pulley
DURHAM — Mrs. Hilda Britt Pulley, 83, of Durham, died Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Duke Regional Hospital. Mrs. Pulley was born in Durham the daughter of the late James Dewey Britt, Sr. and the late the late Mary Phillips Nowell.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Otis Reid Pulley and four brothers.  
Surviving are her sons, Ronald L. Thompson and wife, Miriam and James R. Pulley; grandchildren, Nicole Moreno and husband, Emilio, Mollie Pulley and Corey Pulley; great-grandchildren, Nickolas and Christian Moreno; sisters, Bobbie Dixon, Pauline Bullock; brother, John Britt.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clements Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Turnbough officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at Clements Funeral Home.

John Delano Durden
DURHAM — Commander John Delano Durden, USN (Retired), 72, of Durham, died Saturday, November 2, 2013, at the V.A. Medical Center. Commander Durden was born in Florida to the late Gladys New Durden and Ednie Durden. Commander Durden served in the US Navy as a fighter pilot, flying more than 394 missions off of the USS Independence and the USS America during the Vietnam War. He was a 1964 graduate of the United States Naval Academy.
Surviving are a daughter, Anastasia Krick and husband, Michael; a son Brian Thomas Durden; and two grandchildren, Derek Stein and Melani Stein.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Wed., Nov. 6, at St. Lukes Episcopal Church. Officiating will be the Rev. James B. Craven, III, a Naval Academy classmate. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Salisbury National Cemetery with Military Honors at 2 p.m.

Mable Catherine Burroughs Webb
DURHAM — Mrs. Mable Catherine Burroughs Webb, 78, of 1503 Hearthside St, died Friday, November 1, 2013 at Duke Medical Center. Her service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Mt Zion Christian Church, 3519 Fayetteville St. Interment will follow in Glennview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12-1pm on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Webb is survived by 9 children; Gene Holley, Anthony Webb, Claiborne Webb, Jr. Carl Webb, David Webb, Deborah Caulder, Jacquelyn Myles, Sabrina McDougald and Arlene W. Lumpkin; four siblings, Ida Cox-Isom, Rebecca Dean, Robert Burroughs and Raymond Burroughs; 27 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Virginia K. Zeller
CHAPEL HILL – Virginia K. Zeller died on Nov. 1, 2013.
Mrs. Zeller was born in Suffield, Conn., on July 24, 1921.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Victor Zeller, her son James W. Zeller and his wife, Judy, of Apex, son William J. Zeller and his wife, Shelli, of Newport Beach, Calif., and her daughter, Suzanne Zeller Moss, and her husband, Gary, of Westlake Village, Calif. She also is survived by her grandchildren James V. Zeller, Keith Moss and Charlotte Moss.
She was an avid bridge player and Duke Hospital volunteer.
