Betty P. Williamson Bookman
DURHAM — Betty P. Williamson Bookman passed away July 4 at home after a courageous seven year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born August 15, 1936 in Verona, NC (Onslow County) to the late Elmon James and Eva H. Pollard. Betty graduated from Dixon High School in 1954 and married Robert Lee Williamson of Durham, August 11, 1957. Following Robert’s death on July 10, 1999, she married Paul K. Bookman Sr. March 5, 2005.
Betty retired from the Private Diagnostic Clinic at Duke Medical Center after 41 ½ years of service, and at the time, held the position of Manager of the PDC payroll. She was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church for 40 years and served as Sunday School Secretary for 25 years before health problems forced her to retire from church service.
Betty is survived by her husband, Paul K. Bookman Sr.; her children, Lisa W. Phillips of Timberlake, Robert Lee Williamson Jr. and wife, Betty of Durham, and Ashley James Williamson and wife, Sonya of Troy; her grandchildren: Tonja (husband, Jed) Womble, Brandi Bullock (husband, Justin), Robert Phillips, Stephen Phillips, Adam Williamson, Mason Williamson, and Jane Cameron Williamson; great grandchildren: Jace and Kale Womble; a sister, Helen Turner (husband, Leo) of Jacksonville; a brother, Troy Pollard and (wife, Patricia) of Charlotte; a stepbrother, Andrew Garner of Rockwell; step-children, Paul Kent Bookman Jr, (wife, Kimberly) of Franklin Co.; Elizabeth Jean Aquino (husband, Joe) of Houston, TX; Deanna Lynn Barrett (husband, Tony) of Rougemont; step-grandchildren: Matthew, Michael, and Elissa Aquino, Kirsten Bookman and Chelsea Barrett. In addition to her first husband, Robert, Betty was pre-deceased by step-mothers, Bessie F. Pollard and Peachie Pollard.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday from Olive Branch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard. Friends may visit 4 to 6 p.m. today at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.

Walter M. Bullock
DURHAM — Mr. Walter M. Bullock was born February 16, 1918 in Granville County. He passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church in Durham, NC. The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the church. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Gardens, Creedmoor, NC on Monday, July 8th at 11 a.m.

Ya'nesha Mo'nay Williams
DURHAM - Ya'nesha Mo'nay Williams, 21, entered into eternal rest on June 29, 2013. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Amayah Mann; mother, Devona Hines; and father, Elisha Williams; one sister, three brothers, one maternal and one paternal grandmother, one great-grandmother, two aunts, two uncles, 13 cousins and four special friends and a loving special friend and mentor, Charles Moody. 
Funeral services will be today, July 6, 2013 at Holloway Memorial Funeral Home, at 1 p.m. with visitation at noon.

CHAPEL HILL — Mr. Jarrett Lee Mitchell went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services will be held on today, Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph CME Church, Chapel Hill, N.C. Family visitation 30 minutes prior to the funeral at the church.

Joe Alice “Jody” Barrett
WILMINGTON - Mrs. Joe Alice “Jody” Barrett, 81, died Wednesday evening at Duke University Hospital. Mrs. Barrett was born in Bardwell, TX, the daughter of the late Whitman Matheny and the late Fannie Lorene Matheny. She was preceded in death by her husband, Barrie P. Barrett; and a brother, Tom Matheny.
Mrs. Barrett is survived by a son, John Barrett (Toni) of Durham; daughters, Catherine Long (Rick) of Corona, CA and Susan Barrett Smith (Mike) of New Orleans, LA; a brother, John Matheny (Dianne) of Hammond, LA; and three grandchildren, Kristin Long, Molly Barrett and Rachel Barrett.

Louis Green Roberts
REIDSVILLE – Louis Green Roberts, 93, of, Reidsville, North Carolina, passed away on July 4, 2013 at the Pavilion at Croasdaile Village in Durham, NC.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Beverly Gaska officiating. The family will receive friends and family immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Louis was born in Charlotte, NC to the late Aaron Anderson Roberts Sr. and Virginia Venable Green Roberts. He completed his high school education at Asheville Farm School (now Warren-Wilson College) and was a proud veteran of the US Army Air Corps, serving in WWII. Louis spent most of his adult life in the Richmond, Virginia area where he was owner/operator of Roberts Auto Service. The lure of “buy and sell” kept Louis busy dabbling in real estate, pre-owned cars, and estate auctions. He also took great personal pleasure in flying airplanes, woodworking, golf, and growing prize tomatoes. Louis enjoyed taking his family on flying excursions and on trips to the North Carolina mountains. He was a member at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Reidsville, NC and a charter member of the Chesterfield Flyers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Roberts, and five sisters.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Johnston Roberts of Chesterfield, VA; daughter, Helen Gray Roberts Coats and husband, Dale, of Durham; grandchildren, Bradley Coats and wife, Lea, of Cary, NC, and Douglas Coats of Gainesville, FL; brother, Aaron Anderson Roberts Jr. and wife, Mary Tait Roberts, of Powhatan, VA.
Mr. Roberts’ family is indebted to the professional caregivers who kept him safe. We especially thank Carol Shelton for her devotion and high standards of care.
