DURHAM - Peter Daymont, age 69, died early Monday morning at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 8th at Epworth United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 to 3 p.m.

Thomas Walter Evans Jr.
DURHAM - Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Walter Evans Jr., (50) of Durham, N.C., will be conducted on Saturday at 1 p.m. from The Antioch Baptist Church. Survivors are two sons, Mr. Joshua Evans and Mr. Kristopher Evans; five sisters, Mrs. Jacqueline Largin (Ray), Ms. Lynette Evans, Mrs. Sandra Watkins, Mrs. Useetha Rhodes (Lester), Mrs. Kimberly Headen (Rodney); and one grandchild, Jocelyn Evans; grandmother, Mrs. Lou Ellen Alston and a host of other relatives and friends.

Minnie Mangum Hart
BAHAMA - Mrs. Minnie Mangum Hart, of Bahama, NC, departed her earthly home on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Carver Living Center in Durham, NC. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Mr. Ephram Hart.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Claytee Morrell of Mt. Vernon, N.Y and Mrs. Vera Evans of Bridgeport, CT; sister-in-law, Mrs. Vergie Mangum of Durham, NC; nine nephews, seven nieces and a large extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 8021 Stagville Rd., Bahama, NC. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Viewing will take place today, October 4, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Scarborough and Hargett Memorial Chapel and Gardens.

Robert A. Pendergraph
DURHAM - Mr. Robert A. Pendergraph, 77, died early Wednesday at his home. Mr. Pendergraph was born in Durham Co., the son of the late Henry Irving Pendergraph and the late Alma Stephens Pendergraph.
Bobby was a graduate of the Class of 1954 at Durham High School and a graduate of the Class of 1959 at the University of North Carolina. He was President of Pendergraph Electric, Inc., and was a member of the Durham Electrical Contractors Association (DECA), serving many years as secretary-treasurer. He was past President of Carolinas Electrical Contractors Association (CECA) and was awarded lifetime membership to CECA in 2010, of which he was very proud. Bobby loved speaking before the Durham and Carolina’s Electrical Contractors and ended every speech with “and may the good Lord take a liking to you!”. Bobby was a former member and past President of North State Sertoma, former member of Durham Sports Club, and was a current member of Willowhaven @ Umstead Pines Country Club. He was also a former member of the Durham Organization of Golfing Seniors “D.O.G.S.”.
Bobby loved life, loved his family and loved the Lord. He was grateful for every day and lived life to the fullest. Time with friends was one of his favorite things, whether on the golf course or at the beach, he treasured every moment. Mr. Pendergraph was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and the Outbackers Sunday School Class.
Mr. Pendergraph is survived by his wife, Betsy T. Pendergraph; daughter, Lisa Pendergraph and partner, Marie Padley; son, Steve Pendergraph and wife, Mary Kay; and two grandchildren, Michael Dean Pendergraph and Melissa J. Pendergraph.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, 3 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Pastor W. Douglas Lain Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church.

Bonny Campbell Prevatte
DURHAM — Mrs. Bonny Campbell Prevatte, 96, of Durham, died on Wednesday, October 2, 2013. She lived in Pembroke before moving to Durham to live with her daughter, Sally.
Bonny was born in Robeson County to the late Frank Leslie Campbell and Nancy Emily Jones Campbell. She was a faithful church member of Lowes Grove Baptist Church and the Ruth Bible Class. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 416. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmus Prevatte; son-in-law, Jim Jones; one brother; and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Sally Jones-Davis and husband, Bob of Durham; Bonny Shepard and husband, Bob of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sister, Margaret Ivey of Maxton; five grandchildren, Mike Jones (Laurie), Debby Adcock (David), Kendra Shepard, Keely Gillil and (Michael), Brandon Shepard (Alyssa); and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Lowes Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Forest Gale. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Burial will be in the Lowes Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Martha Elaine Cox
CREEDMOOR — Martha Elaine Cox, 67, passed away Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer that lasted 15 years.
As an ICU Registered Nurse at Duke Medical Center for 36 years, Martha devoted her life to caring for others. She received her Diploma in Nursing from Holzer School of Nursing in Gallopolis, Ohio, her BSN from NC Central University, and her Masters of Science from Duke University. She counseled many other cancer patients during her battle and gave them the courage to face their own illness. She was an inspiration to others as she continued to work for over 13 years while receiving more than 150 chemotherapy treatments, radiation and multiple surgeries. Even during her constant battle with cancer she always put others first.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 6, 2013, 2 p.m. at Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by Dr. Mitch Simpson. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Joseph B. Cox Sr.; her daughter, Abby Cox Ray; and her son, Joseph B. Cox Jr.; her sister, Lindsey Johnson (Bill); her brother, Frank Hutchinson (Shirley); her grandchildren, Madeline Leann Cox and Jaxson Lee Ray. She was predeceased by her parents, Linzie and Mildred Hutchinson; sisters, Thelma Cooper, Agnes Omohundro and Freda Conley; brothers, Billy Hutchinson and Dana Hutchinson.
Visitation will be held at the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor on Saturday, October 5th, 2013 from 6:30 to 8:30 and at other times at the home.

William “Bill” Hicks Sr.
MORRISVILLE – William Hicks Sr. 82 departed his life on October 1, 2013.
He leaves behind three children, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and four sisters.
Services will be on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 12 noon at Shiloh Baptist Church, Morrisville, NC, and the viewing will be held from 11:30 to 12 noon.
