Stephanie (Kahr) Berry
DURHAM — Stephanie (Kahr) Berry was born October 15, 1964, and departed from us on Monday, April 15, 2013. Stephanie was raised in Champaign, Illinois, but spent her adult life in North Carolina.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Scott Berry of Durham; and stepsons, Casey and Josh; her precious parents, Toby and Rita Kahr of Chapel Hill; a brother, Richard Kahr of Boonton, New Jersey; and nephews, Matthew, J.T., and Jake; and niece, Kristen: and sister, Jennifer MCGinnis of Durham. All loved her deeply.
Stephanie gave more to others than she gave to herself, never met a stranger, and lived life to the fullest. She loved to travel, play games, laugh, and generally have fun. She was formidable, fearless, feisty, and a tower of strength for everyone around her. Above all, Stephanie loved and was loved by her husband, Scott, and they were best friends. She was all anyone could have asked for as a wife, daughter, and sister, and she will be terribly missed.

Helen L. Butler Neal
DURHAM - Mrs. Helen L. Butler Neal, age 88 of Franklin, TN for the past 4 years, formerly of Durham NC, died April 8, 2013. Long time member of Immaculate Catholic Church in Durham and currently a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Brentwood, TN had a Funeral Mass in Brentwood on April 12th and will be laid to rest Friday, April 19, 2013 at 11 at Stanly Memorial Gardens in Albemarle, NC. Preceded in death by husband, Marion Neal; and grandson Ryan McPherson. Survived by sons, Richard H. Neal of Durham and Williams H. Neal of Maryland; daughters, Margaret McPherson of TN and Katherine Neal of Charlotte; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Association of Retarded Citizens of your favorite charity.

Susan Sheffield
DURHAM - Susan Sheffield died Sat., April 13 after a sudden stroke.
She leaves behind son, John; daughter, Keeley; and countless others who call her family.

Clina Woodlief Wheeler
DURHAM - Clina Woodlief Wheeler, 88, of Durham died on Friday, April 19, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Aubrey Woodlief and Sarah Powell Woodlief. She retired after thirty years of service as a secretary from Burlington Industries. After retirement, she worked part-time for H&R Block. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Wheeler.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Wheeler and wife, Judine, of Raleigh and Harry Wheeler and wife, Carol, of Alexandria, VA; two sisters, Lavoy Adams of Durham and Joyce Tilley of Raleigh; one grandson, David M. Wheeler and wife, Erin, of Winston Salem; one great-grandson, Wyatt Wheeler of Winston Salem.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Hugh O’Shields will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Donald Lee Michael
CHAPEL HILL — Good-bye to a wonderful and brilliant man who brought LAUGHTER, LOVE and CARE to everyone he met and everything he did.
Donald Lee Michael, died April 13, 2013, with his family by his side at his home in Chapel Hill, NC. He battled non-hodgkinlymphoma for a year. Through it all he maintained a positive outlook and a wonderful sense of humor.
He was born August 24, 1939 in Clarksburg, WV to Pearly and Lucy Michael. He studied Engineering at WVU and received his Master of Science in Civil Engineering on July 19, 1963. Worked for the Bureau of Public Roads, Keuffel & Esser, WILD Herbrugg which was later bought by Leica.
Donald Michael is survived by his wife, Kathleen and their son, Nathaniel; his daughter, Robin Hernandez and her daughter,  Marina; his daughter, Kim Rifkin; her spouse, Andrew and their five children, Alex, Hannah, Ben, Max and Hunter; his sister,  Donna Conner; her daughter, Cathy Jordan and her spouse, J; his sister, Joan White; her husband, Robert and their two children, Beverly Lehosit and Tracy White; his brother, Ronald Michael; his spouse, Linda and their three children, Marsha Radosevich, Ronda Scalise and Michele Rasmussen. He was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Brooks but surviving brother-in-law, Charles Brooks.
A memorial will be in early summer in Clarksburg, W.Va. Details will be announced in the local paper. His ashes will be buried between his parents graves in Greenlawn Cemetary.

WAKE
Guy Earl Mason Jr.
RALEIGH — Guy Earl Mason Jr., age 99, a resident of 615 Spring Forest Road at Sunrise Assisting Living Center, died late Thursday night at his home.
Born April 10, 1914 in Peora, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Guy Earl Mason Sr. and Lulu Martin Mason. He graduated from Fairmont High School in Fairmont, West Virginia and also attended Fairmont State College. A veteran of World War II, Guy was employed with Owens, Illinois Glass Company for 43 years, living in Alton, Illinois before transferring to Durham in 1961,  where he lived until moving to Raleigh in 2008. 
Guy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir.
Surviving are his son, Michael Edward Mason and wife, Kathy, of Englewood, Florida; seven grandchildren, Lisa Petty, Hannah Reinhart, Rebekah Larraz, Lydia Larraz, Candace Schey, Vicki O’Connor, and Ryan Hamilton; and three great-grandchildren, Austin Schey, Rachael O’Connor and Sarah O’Connor. He was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Ruth Rittenhouse Mason who died in 2010; and their daughter, Nancy Mason Gray who died in 1973.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery; Rev. Dr. Bill Quick and Rev. Taylor Mills officiating.

Mary Gibbs Stanley
RALEIGH – Mrs. Mary Gibbs Stanley, 70, formerly of Calais Drive in Durham, died Friday afternoon at Duke Raleigh Hospital.
Mrs. Stanley was born in Martinsville, VA. She was raised in Durham where she graduated from Durham High School. She was employed for over 44 years with Wachovia Bank, working her way up to a Vice President in Private Banking. Mrs. Stanley was very active with Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, being a Team Leader for the Tommy Stanley family team in the Great Strides Walk. One of the biggest joys of her life was spending time with her family and friends at Kerr Lake and her grandchildren. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Stanley is survived by her daughter, Donna Stanley Dennis and her husband, Jeff, of Raleigh; daughter-in-law, Cindy L.S. Stanley of Durham; the best and most beautiful grandchildren ever, Summer Gayle Stanley, Colton Slater Stanley, Jakob Lawrence Dennis; sister, Nanci Gibbs of Durham; brothers, Frank Gibbs of Ft. Wayne, IN, Larry Gibbs of Burlington, NC, Dennis Gibbs of Cary, NC, V. Lee Gibbs of New Braunfells, TX, Russell Gibbs of Vienna, Austria; second husband, Perry Strait, of Astor, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt dearly.
Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Franklin and Virginia Doris Lawrence Gibbs; first husband, Thomas Stanley Sr; son, Tommy Stanley Jr.; and her faithful companion, Daisy.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Doug Lane and Rev. Johnny Branch. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. in the Family Life Center at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
