William Kirk “Bill” Arrington
DURHAM — William Kirk “Bill” Arrington, 92, died Saturday, June 21, 2014. Bill was born, April 4, 1922 to Samuel Pitts Arrington and Hattie Lillian Kirk Arrington, and was a life resident of Durham County. He was a US Navy veteran of WW II. Bill worked for Duke Power Company from 1942 until his retirement in 1984. He was a member and Life Deacon of Temple Baptist Church in Durham, Bill and his wife, Ruth, volunteered and enjoyed visiting homebound church members. They also enjoyed, for many years, their Sunday night get togethers with their close friends.Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ruth Strickland Arrington who died in December of 2013, as well as his parents.
He is survived by three sons, David K. Arrington and wife, Elizabeth of Timberlake, Ted W. Arrington and wife, Leslie of Chapel Hill, Glenn S. Arrington and wife, Tammie of Graham; a grandson, Will C. Arrington; and many cousins.
The family will be present 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hall-Wynne Funeral
Service, 1113 West Main St., Durham. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church, 4504 Sterling Dr. Durham. Senior Pastor Mark Mofield will officiate. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Durham. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to Temple Baptist Church Building Fund, 4504 Sterling Dr., Durham, NC 27712. Delano Frankie “Frank” Ellis
DURHAM — Delano Frankie “Frank” Ellis, 69, of Durham passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at his residence. Born in Durham County, Mr. Ellis was the son of the late Thomas Lera Ellis and Gladys Knight Ellis. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas J. Ellis, William D. Ellis and Walter C. Ellis and his sister, Doris Adams. Frank was a retired HVAC technician for Durham Public Schools and formerly employed by Carolina Air Conditioning and Simmons Service Company. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Denise Pulley Ellis; two daughters, Kristina Ellis and Marie Ellis; a son, Brian Edward Ellis; a brother, Douglas W. Ellis; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Riley.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham. Interment will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home.

Wiley F. Neal, Jr.
DURHAM — Mr. Wiley F. Neal, Jr. departed this life Tues., June 17, 2014 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Mr. Neal served as Teacher and Assistant Principal in the Durham City Schools (now Durham Public Schools) and retired in 1983.
He leaves to cherish memories of his life his wife of 40 years, Arline Parker Neal of the home; a daughter, Sandra Neal; two sisters, Pauline N. Bullock and Marie N. Gresham; one brother, Willard Neal, Sr.; a stepson, Paul B. Smith; a stepdaughter, Cheryl Smith Christophe; nieces, nephews, and many loving extended family members and friends. Mr. Neal is predeceased by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2620 E. Weaver St., Tuesday, June 24th. The body will lie in state from 11:00 to 12:00. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 noon.
Viewing will end at 12:00. The Service of Witness to the Resurrection of Christ Jesus, officiated by the Pastor, Rev. Jimmie Hawkins will begin at 12:00noon.
William Lewis Thompson
DURHAM — Mr. William Lewis Thompson, age 80, a resident of 2007 S. Alston Ave., Durham, N.C. departed this life Friday night, June 20, 2014 in Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, N.C.
He was a member of New St. James Baptist Church in Timberlake, N.C.
He is survived by two sisters, Naomi T. Jackson and Elva Ann Utley both of Durham, N.C.; one brother, Robert Lee Thompson of New Port News, Va. and one aunt, Jennetta Cousin.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 24, 2014 at 1p.m. in New St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Oliver officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the church, one hour prior to the funeral.
Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Directors are in charge of the service for Mr. William Lewis Thompson.

Betty Lou Gallagher Williams
DURHAM — Mrs. Betty Lou Gallagher Williams, 66, of 615 Patterson Road, died on Saturday, June 21, 2014.
Mrs. Williams was born in West Virginia to the late Andrew and Amy Hammonds Gallagher. She was a homemaker and owned and operated Four Points Diner. She loved cooking and making people happy. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond Gallagher, Bob Gallagher, Jack Gallagher, and a sister, Gayle Chandler.
She is survived by loving, devoted and best friend for 47 years, husband, David “Clinton” Williams; son, Steve Gallagher and wife, Angie of Durham; daughter, Tina Blanchard and husband, Buddy of Durham; brother, Bud Gallagher of Roxboro; sisters, Nancy Bryant of Creedmoor, Debbie Chandler of Durham, Janie Averette of Kitrell, Patsy Fleshman and Fran Parrish both of Richmond Va., Shelby Gue of W. Virginia, Juanita Mango of New Jersey, Linda Pridgen of Richmond Va., and Delores G. Reeves of Greensboro; grandchildren, Amber Hedrick and husband, Cody, Lauren Blanchard, Cody Blanchard, Angel Gallagher and Alexis Gallagher; great-grandchild, Madison Hedrick.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Fletchers Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pastor Johnny Godair will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Flowers are acceptable.

Robert Lewis Weaver
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — Robert Lewis Weaver, 78, of Virginia Beach, VA, formerly of Durham, NC, passed away on June 19, 2014 after a brief illness.
He was born on December 6, 1935 to the late Elmer Lewis and Hazel Thompson Weaver. He attended Durham High School and graduated in the class of 1954. Bob served in the United States Army from 1958-1960, and was stationed in Germany. He returned home and was employed at Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company for several years. He subsequently decided to attend college and graduated from Old Dominion University, majoring in Art. Bob taught Art in the Virginia Beach School System for twenty one years. Bob loved to travel and visited several European countries during his lifetime.
Surviving are his brother, Thomas T.Weaver of Durham, NC, and several cousins, James C. Thompson (Joan), Marvin P. Thompson (Ann), Katherine Thompson Stephens and Russell L. Rogers (Maria).
